Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says the nation will deliver a harsh blow to the "global arrogance" on this year's anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.
"The Islamic Revolution opened a window to liberty for the human race, which was trapped in the dead ends of materialism," Ahmadinejad said during a cabinet meeting on Sunday.
"If the Islamic Revolution had not occurred, liberalism and Marxism would have crushed all human dignity in their power-seeking and money-grubbing claws. Nothing would have remained of human and spiritual principles," he added.
Ahmadinejad said that in the three decades of its history, the Islamic Revolution had inspired some great developments in the world.
The Iranian president made the remarks as the 31st anniversary of the Islamic Revolution approaches.
Iranians are expected to pour into the streets on February 11 to celebrate the occasion in public rallies across the country, as they have done annually over the past three decades.

Kristinn,

Likely trying to rally his people after the riots and raise the price of oil. Ahmacrazynutjob is trying to hold onto power.

Thats a lot to chew on...Where did you get the info on Israel massing troops for a push, or defense from Leb or Syria??? Those goobs can’t tie their shoes now...Sure, they could lob a bunch of dumb-dumbs over the border, but that’s about it...
There have been no indications of a launch capability from an off-shore rig or cargo ship in development, and besides, if they tried to set one upm which would have to take a while, with the tactical buildup in the Gulf and surrounding areas, we be on that like white on rice in 30 nanoseconds...
I still believe nothing is going to happen...Like I said, watch the delays in civilian merchant traffic through the straights...Insurance companies are dragging their heels on covering those ships planning on going through there, and that is costing folks big time money...
Now how that helps Iran, I am not so sure...But then again it may be as primal as one man’s (I use the term loosely) arrogance...
We’ll have to wait and see I suppose...
It should sound ridiculous...........but we all know by now anything is possible with this administration.....anything.
God help us.
I don’t like playing “pin the tail on the AntiChrist” (what I call a lot of Hal Lindsey type end times prediction exercises), but what you describe is very plausible.
please add me to your ping list.

After a while, it becomes more than one mind can wrap around.
A good conspiracy would be boring now, after this past year of ours.
THank you for posting that. Every time we have something like this I am reminded of why Carter was the worst US President ever. And most people seem to have forgotten why he is at the bottom of all of this.

Snipped.....
The end of a good article:
‘’They concluded that if they are threatened, they will try to defend themselves not only inside Iran but also outside.’’
An intensified US presence may also give hardliners an additional pretext to clamp down even more fiercely on the opposition.
Thanks for the ping and observations.

STRANGER THAN FICTION.
No doubt.
Not easy, HARD. There is no section of the Constitution that allows such a thing. Even in the midst of the Civil War most of the Constitution remained in effect, or at least was not formally suspended.
So it would not be a LEGAL power grab, as you CLAIM, but an ILLEGAL power grab.
As such obedience might be DEMANDED as you CLAIM, but would be unlikely to be GIVEN. Illegal, unconstitutional, power-grabs claiming to BE LAW are unlikely to be met with anything except CONTEMPT, RESISTANCE, and the arms of American PATRIOTS, in my opinion.
So NO it would not be something Obama would be dumb enough to try. Regardless of what "I'm a nut job" does in Iran.
Not sure what you were getting at with your posting but Mohammad was not born until around 600 AD. In fact the ruling power at the time of Jesus's death was Rome. Islam did not yet exist.
President Bush delivered a private message from Israel to the Kenyan in the 30 minute meeting.
And you know this how exactly? This is one of the biggest speculative balloons I've seen on Free Republic since the Clinton era.
