To me, that statement sounds incredibly insulting to Latino and African American citizens. (We don't have to bother with explaining our policies or positions to Latinos and AA's).
“One thing that always puzzled me about CA is that the voters would vote down liberal propositions, while voting overwhelmingly for the most liberal candidates on the ballot”
But there is going to be some redistricting process happening in the next year, I think. Maybe there will be a little shake-up.
I have no respect for a bunch of folks who vote in a generous government bureaucracy/"free" educational system, yet then vote against the taxes to pay for them. While illegals are part of the problem, Cali's bloated state sector, combined with a lack of sufficient tax revenue, makes it a laughingstock.
I don’t think that’s right. the gop tried to shove amnesty down our throats and got smacked for it. if the dems try to shove it down our throats they too will get smacked for it. it’s a 70% against issue and even the dems have got to know that. before the MA election they may have been willing to try it, but now they must realize people have woken up and they are pissed.
So let me get this straight......... the only way the repubbies have a chance in CA is if the minority voters stay home? Geez, that sounds like a really bright future.
One issue not raised is whether or not minorities who are alarmed about the socialist takeover of health care in Washington will turn out, even as those who prefer the handouts stay home. Also, more and more blacks are alarmed at the economic carnage wrought by Obamuism. This voting pattern could mean the minorities could vote closer to the white voting pattern.
Not likely. They don't have to turn out. Their ballots are already marked and awaiting distribution to the appropriate precincts.
Don't be an idiot. There are more Republicans in California than any other state.
Its very difficult to raise the enegy levels and get the type of results that Dem got in ‘08.
They truly believed in the hope and change thingy and have been severly disappointed.
Young blacks and hispanic and whites as well have been the victims of democrat policies like minimum wage(we told you so) and uncertainty in the small businesses that hire.
Actually all the Red states are actually Blue and vice versa. Let’s just call the Leftists what they are - Reds.
Tony Castro, hehehe... someone is dreaming....
Not all Latinos vote Democrat. They are not like the Black who kneejerk vote Democratic. Lots of Latinos are patriots, go Catholics and hate abortion. Most of all they hate weak leadership and seek out macho candidates —Obama aint Macho.
More RINO Governators aren’t going to help the situation.
In fact, they’re going to make it a lot worse....
You’ll get no argument from me. That fool never won a contested Republican primary anyway. A conservative governor will make things better. That goes without saying.
There may be more in absolute terms in Texas. If you exclude RINOs, there are far more Republicans in Texas. In fact, a California “Republican” like Arnie or Whitman or Fiorina could not get elected state dogcatcher. On the other hand, Tom McClintock would fit in well in Texas.
You’re missing the point. The poster implied that there were very few Republicans in California, and I pointed out that there are in fact quite a few.
What makes you think a large number of California Republicans are RINOs? What corner of the state do the RINOs live in? Arnold won his way into office for many complex reasons but he did NOT win because a majority of California Republicans agreed with his RINO policies.
“What makes you think a large number of California Republicans are RINOs?”
Having lived in CA, to begin with, and having been involved in CA political campaigns. As for what corner of the state the RINOs are in, I would say most areas now, but one of the earliest to go RINO was the South Bay area. The Republican Congressmen are a good example - Anderson, McCluskey, Schau (?), Campbell, etc. More generally, if RINOs aren’t prevalent, how are candidates such as McClintock and others being pushed aside by Arnies, Fiorinas, and Whitmans?
