In State of the Union, President Suggests Court Opened Doors to Foreign Intervention in American Elections
President Obama is taking aim at the Supreme Court's recent decision to roll back limits on corporate spending on political campaigns in his State of the Union address this evening, saying the high court "reversed a century of law to open the floodgates for special interests - including foreign companies - to spend without limit in our elections."
"Well I dont think American elections should be bankrolled by Americas most powerful interests, and worse, by foreign entities," the president will say, according to excerpts provided by the White House. "They should be decided by the American people, and thats why Im urging Democrats and Republicans to pass a bill that helps to right this wrong."
According to CBS News Chief Legal Correspondent Jan Crawford, "the rebuke of the Court is extraordinary." Many of the justices involved in the 5-4 decision are expected to be in the House chamber to hear Mr. Obama's speech. The president is expected to focus largely on jobs and the economy as he tries to reframe his presidency in the wake of electoral and legislative setbacks for his party in recent weeks. |
The SCOTUS is one of them.
well now ... he isnt all that bright..
The gall of the boy marxist is stunning. What a moron.
I'd like to be a fly on the wall when Chairman Zero tells SEIU to stop their campaign contributions. < /sarc>
Not a good idea to pick a fight with guys who can’t be fired.
what utter AUDACITY
btw, where was Justice Thomas?
This Bambi is a real POS commie bast—d! I hope he continues to make as many powerful enemies as possible to stop him and his idealist ass!
Wasn't Obama the guy who got huge campaign contributions from Saudi Arabia?
Ginsburg looked like a peruvian mummy they wheeled
in from the Smithsonian.
Maybe SCOTUS will be a little more friendly to those who want to look at Obama’s sealed records.
great point.
Probably was busy. Maybe washing his hair or caulking the bathtub.
Ironic that the guy who raised more foreign money than even bill clinton and his Chinese and Indonesian pals should be making this lying complaint about foreign campaign donations.
No, the SCOTUS decision does not allow contributions by foreign corporations.
It looks as if CBS was given this story to run with before Obama actually gave his speech. They’re just passing on the propaganda message. Or trying to. I don’t think it’ll fly very far.
Why was my related thread pulled?
They will only be more than happy to railroad his a$$ every chance they get. They can also grease the skids for his impeachment.
“Ah, I see we have another eligibility case for Barry on the docket..well Honorables, shall we have a look-see?”
The man has almost no experience in the law arena, other than showing up at Harvard. What arrogance.
His opinion is of little importance, and not at all based upon law, but a demagogue visceral appeal to keeping out “special interests”.
Well we all are members of groups that form “special interests” that have a right to free speech!
The case was about book and film bannings
