Amidst all the catcalls and raspberries directed at Zero's SOTU speech this week - Fred Barnes Called it the "least fresh" and most cliché-ridden such speech in over 30 years - I must admit I thought it was great. Perfect, in fact. We couldn't have asked for anything better. As Forrest Gump observed, "Stupid is as stupid does." It doesn't get much stupider than to ignore the First Rule of Holes - when you're in a hole, stop digging - except to insist that the way to get out of the hole is to keep digging ever more feverishly, and to blame everyone but yourself for the hole you're in. The SOTU speech confirmed that we have a narcissistic fool for a president - all ego and no brains. He is, with stupidly obdurate stubbornness, going to keep doing exactly what has caused his agenda to fail and his approval ratings to sink ever lower. This almost guarantees that he will keep his party on the path to electoral disaster in November. How could we ask for more?
Jack Kelly A CNN poll released Tuesday (1/26) indicated only 30 percent of Americans want Obamacare passed in anything approaching its present form. But in his SOTU, the president urged Congress: "Do not walk away from reform. Not now. Not when we are so close." A CNN poll released Monday (1/25) indicated nearly 75 percent of Americans think at least half the money in the "stimulus" bill passed in February -- which the Congressional Budget Office said Tuesday will cost $862 billion -- has been wasted. But in the SOTU, Mr. Obama urged the Senate to pass a $154 billion second stimulus bill the House passed last month.
Jack Kelly The performance of the stock market was the one bright spot in the otherwise dismal year for the economy in 2009. The Dow Jones Industrial average rose 65 percent from its March low, causing many to hope it was a harbinger of recovery. President Barack Obama has fixed that. Last week the Dow fell 552 points in the three trading days since the president announced his plans to "reform" the financial services industry. Of course -- solve the wrong problem, demonize Wall Street, and misdirect attention away from the real culprits, politicians in Washington. Perhaps this president should be nicknamed "Red Herring" Obama.

(WHERE is the "Progress" in PROGRESSIVE?)
The New York Times reported that the NSA improperly wiretapped a member of Congress who was "part of a Congressional delegation to the Middle East in 2005 or 2006." Greg Sargent wants to know who it was. Dont we all. To the Googling stations! My first guess was Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), who visited the West Bank in January 2006. But why stop there? In March 2005, a so-called CODEL travelled to Iraq, Jordan, Israel Lebanon and Egypt. On the trip were Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Darrel Issa (R- Calif.), George Miller (D-Calif.), Edward Markey (D-Mass.), Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), Anna Eshoo (D-Calif.), James McGovern (D- Mass.), and Linda Sanchez (D-Calif.). The purpose of the deceptively named Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA), re-introduced on March 10 by Rep. George Miller, D-Calif., and Sens. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., and Tom Harkin, D-Iowa (H.R.1409, S.560), is to give union organizers free reign to pressure workers at nonunion worksites to sign cards indicating a desire to join. Economist's Advice to Obama Carries a Union Label
This is not an unreasonable summation, given that the bill's ulterior motive is to boost union membership. The Employee Free Choice Act, spearheaded by Sens.
