Obamacare Is Dead and Here's Why [Obamacare Ongoing Thread]
Town Hall ^ | 1-26-10 | Robert A. Levy

Posted on 01/25/2010 11:27:02 PM PST by JustPiper

As the Massachusetts blame game unfolds, the president’s unpopular health bill leads the list. But the substantive provisions of the bill were just part of the problem. Perhaps more important, voters were appalled by how the deal unfolded.

Consider the pre-election giveaway to the labor unions. Negotiators agreed to exempt union contracts until 2018 from the tax on so-called Cadillac health-insurance plans. That backroom bargain not only outraged the voters, it also violated the Fifth Amendment to the Constitution, requiring the federal government to extend equal protection of the laws to all U.S. persons. Of course, not all voters understood the constitutional nuances, but they sensed that something was very wrong; and they reacted.

I have been disturbed by the socialists for years, ever since I learned many members of Congress 'openly' joined the DSA (Democratic Socialists of America). Several years ago, the names were published on the DSA site. (since removed of course) Please post any info you have, many of you have been on this issue for many years, & if we can store it all on one thread, we have our FreeRepublic Warehouse on the enemies of the state. How DO we combat this, when it's coming at us from every angle? When the people have been asleep for decades. Please post anything you have found or accumulated. Also choose a dictator these people follow, of particular interest, those in D.C. who have been quoted with their adulation of one.

The Immoral Equivalent of Slavery
By John Lillpop

Using the power of government to take one man’s wealth against his will in order to enrich another is un-American, immoral, and inhuman.

Those 30 million or so uninsured Americans who are celebrating the passage of ObamaCare may feel elated now, but how long with that glee last?

How much joy will there be if they happen to be caught in the cross hairs of the next “spread the wealth” stealing campaign by Barack Obama? You know, a new Obama climate tax on American citizens to fund the war against global warming in China and India? It is YOUR obligation as a world citizen to pay up, you know.

The whole idea of “spreading the wealth” is acceptable only when the spreading is into your bank account. But what about when your assets are spread to others, solely because some Marxist bureaucrat thinks that you live too well?

The very notion that government should be authorized to discriminate against certain citizens in order to advantage others is repulsive and foreign to the American way of thinking.

Yet there it is, at the center of ObamaCare. If this nightmare stands, Obama and his Marxist goons will try to apply it to scores of other programs. Will you be the next victim of “spreading the wealth” communism?

This has the effect of removing all current legal obstructions to the use of military FORCE against the citizen population afforded by posse commitatus. Our President just created his own private army and as he stated numerous times in the campaign he intends to equip it to the full equivalent of our MILITARY forces.

Can somebody tell me what this has to do with universal HEALTH CARE? Why does he need an ARMED FORCE for use inside the country? Does anybody think there is more than a passing similarity to another such force in history known as the GESTAPO? Folks, this isn’t hyperbole — nor is it “chicken little” this is as real as it gets.

Now, I’ll tell you what comes next:
#1 AMNESTY FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS (along with full voting rights)

#2 Massive gun control for US. Dianne Feinstein just commented on this in public, within the last 3 or 4 days.

Final Result?
CW2! Anybody care to guess what I mean by this?

Bill introduced by Senator Jim DeMint:

Sen. Inhofe Backs 47-Word Bill To Repeal 2,400-Page Health Care Law
Tuesday, March 23, 2010
By CNSNews.com Staff Writer

Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.)(CNSNews.com) – Senator Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) announced today that he is supporting a 47-word long bill to repeal the 2,400-page long health care bill that was passed by Congress and signed into law by President Barack Obama on Tuesday.

The text of the legislation backed by Inhofe and introduced by Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) reads as follows:

“To repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. REPEAL. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, and the amendments made by that Act, are repealed.”

In a statement about his support for the proposed repeal, Inhofe said, “I stand with the majority of the American people in opposing the awful government takeover of our health care system. Repealing this legislation is the only way we can start over with meaningful reforms that will improve our health care system – not turn it into socialized medicine.”

“The tax increases, cuts in Medicare, and the provisions that allow taxpayer funds to be used for abortions are all unacceptable,” said Inhofe. “I appreciate Senator DeMint’s efforts on this, and I look forward to working with my colleagues in doing all we can to repeal Obama’s health care plan.”

The 10-section, 2,400-page-long health care law, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, was passed by the Senate on Dec. 24, 2009, and by the House of Representatives on March 21, 2010 – the vote in the House was 219 to 212.

You are the first one I get to tell!

Senate Will Have to Return Health Bill to House

Republicans succeed in forcing a change in a measure altering Obama’s newly enacted health care overhaul, meaning the bill will have to return to the House for final congressional approval.

WASHINGTON — Senate Republicans succeeded early Thursday in forcing a change in a measure altering President Barack Obama’s newly enacted health care overhaul, meaning the bill will have to return to the House for final congressional approval.

It was initially unclear how much of a problem this posed for Democrats hoping to rush the bill to Obama and avoid further congressional votes on what has been a politically painful ordeal for the party. Obama signed the main legislation, making sweeping changes in the country’s health care system, into law on Tuesday after more than a year of battling with Republicans and struggling to round up sufficient Democratic support.

Jim Manley, spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, said Republicans consulting with the Senate parliamentarian had found “two minor provisions” that violate Congress’ budget rules. The provisions deal with Pell grants for low-income students.

Manley said those two provisions will be removed from the bill, and he expected the Senate to approve the measure and send it to the House. Manley said Senate leaders, after conversations with top House Democrats, expect the House to approve the revised measure.

Both chambers are hoping to begin a spring recess by this weekend.

HERE WE GO AGAIN, Stupak can change his vote, if he was honest & he knows the deal was CRAP!

The development came as the Senate completed nine hours of uninterrupted voting on 29 GOP amendments to the legislation. Majority Democrats defeated every amendment.

The legislation would change the new health care law by making drug benefits for Medicare recipients more generous by gradually closing a gap in coverage, increasing tax subsidies to help low-income people afford health care, and boosting federal Medicaid payments to states.

It kills part of the new statute uniquely giving Nebraska extra Medicaid funds — designed to lure support from that state’s Sen. Ben Nelson — that had become a glaring embarrassment to Democrats. It also eases a new tax on expensive health coverage bitterly opposed by unions and many House Democrats, while delaying and increasing a new levy on drug makers.

The legislation also halts federally subsidized student loans issued by private banks, substituting a new system of loans made directly by the government.

BREAKING! BREAKING!

While you were sleeping: The Vampire Congress strikes again; Update: 2:43am Senate adjourns, parliamentarian ruling will send Wreckonciliation bill back to the House on “minor” GOP points of order
By Michelle Malkin • March 25, 2010 01:18 AM

It ain’t over ’til it’s over…and it’s only just begun.

As you all know, I’m on semi-vacation with my family. It’s 10:00pm Pacific time and after putting everyone to bed, I decided to check in online and turn on the TV. I flipped through C-SPAN thinking I’d be able to catch up on re-runs of the day’s business…only to find the Senate still live and in session at 1:00am Eastern voting on Demcare amendments.

Yes, the Vampire Congress is back in business again — shirking the glare of daylight as it tables Republican motion after motion. A final vote on the wreckonciliation bill is expected at around 3:00-6:00am Eastern Thursday morning.

Here’s a list of some of the GOP amendments to the wreconciliation bill (click on link for more info):
