The pix in that thread appear to be taken in two different classrooms:

A carpeted one with TOTUS set up and an improvised Obama logo taped to the floor, but no kids (only media?).
A room with no carpet, no TOTUS, Obama, Duncan, and a bunch of kids, with the media in the back and to one side.

So, the question is, were kids in the audience for the TOTUS speech? Probably not. Otherwise, his joke about the audience looking cute would not have been funny.
