Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said Sunday that it was time to start over on the health care debate - and that Republicans would be willing to try to meet common ground with Democrats on several key issues.
Appearing on CBS's "Face the Nation," McCain said Republicans should "say we'd be willing to start over from the beginning," saying the party would like to address malpractice reform, and transportability of coverage across state lines.
"There are many things we can do," McCain suggested.

My prediction is that Obama will call McCain in to talk about health care and they’ll make a big production about John McCain’s reasonable nature and how he would make a fine senator from Arizona.
The Dems have no interest in what the Pubbies want to do.
Tort reform is the last thing the Democrat attorney lobbies want. Democrats want the remaining vestiges of health care markets to fail as quickly as possible, not get fixed by the repeal of the silly regulations that hold it back presently.
“Hold still, Mike. This won’t hurt a bit. Really. I mean it. Trust me.”
Vote J.D. Hayworth for Senate.
Why doesn’t he just become the moderator of one of these Sunday morning shows. He’s there more than the regular hosts. Take your pick Juan but please stop running your mouth. Go J.D. . He’ll be the next candidate to get my $$!
OH PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE have Obama give a recommendation for Mccain as Senator...
Bingo. McCain is an unreliable squish who loves to think of himself as Solomon, but in this case, it’s good strategy.
The Dems will pass nothing that is not a tweak of what they already have. If they “start over”, nothing will get done this year, an election year in which anything with the label “health care” on it is poison.
Anything McCain or the GOP proposes has to be popular enough to be able to cause the GOP to survive the November elections (and his own August primary) and anything that even remotely resembles Obamacare will not achieve that.
And what comes first???
P-O-L-I-T-I-C-S.
Oh boy. The RINO is rising!!!
>>Oh how I detest this old fool.The enemy within<<
How can you say this of the “Maverick” for change.
eh eh....my friends.
The only reform I would support would be allowing insurace coverage for pre existing conditions, allow buying over state lines, tort reform, and not being allowed to drop someone when they get sick. Nothing else!
You're insignificant!
The next time we've completely lost our sanity and are ready to be taken off to Happydale, we'll look to you for leadership!
Well McCain-Feingold has been ruled unconstitutional.
Same for McCain-Pelosi HealthCare.
You’d think the SCOTUS ruling on McCain Feingold Free Speech would give him an inkling about his thought process in general.......but I guess that is too much to ask
For God’s sake, everyone CALM DOWN. These types to statements (willingness to chat etc) are for MSM and public consumption only. After being shut out of the process for more than a year on both the stimulus and heath care, there is NO WAY the GOP is going to let the RATS off the hook, especially during an election year - only 10 months from the midterms.
One must always distinguish between reality and dialogue for MSM consumption. The GOP does not want to be labeled as the party on “NO,” thereby creating a new MSM meme.
Wake up and calm down. Scott Brown was a miracle, and we are not going to give the RATS a lifeline. Please pay attention to what we do, not the crumbs that we throw to the MSM. It is in our interest for the MSM, and thus the public, for us to appear entirely reasonable.
Off with all their heads.
The voice of maturity, reason, and strategery. Thank you.
You forgot to add "again."
Sigh...
