Sarah gave the dates she is going to AZ to support (read campaign) for McCain. It's sometime in March and obviously she made her commitment before today and before JD’s formal declaration.... I don't think it'll matter much regardless. I think most people see it as Sarah extending a kindness to the man she calls a CLOSE friend. The same man who named her his VP candidate.

...Reagan did sign into law the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. The IRCA included severe penalties for employers who hired illegals, with up to a $1,000,000 fine, improved border enforcement and a legalization provision that was a one time ONLY amnesty.

I disagree. Amnesty is amnesty. It only causes more to illegally immigrate. The 1986 Act was a mistake made by a great conservative president, Ronald Reagan.

Mentioning it illustrates a point.

The majority of Reps in AZ can’t stand McCain, the “Amnesty King.”

Sarah made a colossal blunder. She chose loyalty over principle or she may actually support McCain on such things as amnesty. She has never recanted her Univision interview on amnesty.

Hi altura!

I think most people see it as Sarah extending a kindness to the man she calls a CLOSE friend. The same man who named her his VP candidate.

She has stated repeatedly that she adores John McCain and I certainly don’t fault her for that. Apparently, they ^are^ close friends.

Freepers find every way possible to get through to Sarah not to support McCain. Any ideas?

Sarah owes him her very political life.

Where would she be without McCain? Still an unknown governor in Alaska.

I think McCain got the only bump in the polls that he will see from Sarah endorsing him. It’s only downhill from here - with every opening of his pie hole.

That’s a severly chopped version of Sarah’s interview. Newsbuster’s tore them to shreds.

Excellent point. Brown was the Dems wake up call and J.D. knocking off the gang of 12 leader would be a wake up call to middle of the road’r republicans

FReepers,

Be prepared, when JD announces his run against McCain, the media will have an all out assault on JD. The media loves McCain because he screws his own party over just to receive their adoration...and they know it. McCain gets a woody whenever the NYT’s does a fluff piece on him...and they know it!

I’ll make a prediction: As soon as JD announces his intention to run and has a webpage to receive donations, he’ll probably match what Brown received. Conservatives are sick of RINO’s like McCain!

I’m so ready to donate to JD!

I was a Reagan supporter since 1964. And still am.

I get so sick of the self-declared purists on Free Republic.

You make a good point, but there are probably two kinds of "self-described purists" on Free Republic.

The first type remains steadfast to conservative principles. I happen to be one of those. I don't really care what the "name" of the candidate happens to be -- all I want to know is do they consistently support conservative principles. If they do, they'll get my vote.

The second type of purist is a follower of the cult of personality. If they happen to like a candidate, they'll support that candidate through thick and thin, regardless of the inconsistencies (or occasional betrayal) of conservative principles. Perhaps you are this type of purist: loyal to a person, and not to principle.

I suppose conservatism is a big tent: it can support both types of purists. But here's where I draw the line: I will never impugn your cult-of-personality purity with sanctimonious put-downs.

That said, I would appreciate it if you wouldn't impugn my philosophical-based purity with the same.

Fair?

Congressman from a district that is 60 per cent GOP, loses his seat in 2006?

The district was redrawn in 2002 and there were some personal allegations about his connections to Abramoff and his wife working for his campaign.

Arizona's 5th congressional district contains much of the eastern and northeastern suburbs of Phoenix, including the cities of Scottsdale and Tempe. It also contains a small southeastern portion of the city of Phoenix itself. It is currently represented by Harry Mitchell, a Democrat and is a very well-known swing district. George W. Bush received 54% of the vote in this district in 2004. Native son John McCain narrowly won the district in 2008 with 51.70% of the vote while Barack Obama received 47.17%.

This district covers all of Tempe and Scottsdale and portions of Chandler, Mesa and the Ahwatukee section of Phoenix. Republicans outnumber Democrats by about 40,000 voters. However, the 5th is considered far less conservative than other suburban Phoenix districts.

She got a lot of votes for McIdiot in the Presidential race, for obvious reasons. This is a totally different dynamic. McRino has to go and a conservative has to replace him. So sad Sarah turned on the Tea Party.
