Obama: No healthcare action until Brown is seated By Michael O'Brien - 01/20/10 02:22 PM ET
President Barack Obama said Wednesday that the Senate should halt any action on healthcare legislation until Senator-elect Scott Brown (R-Mass.) can be seated.
Obama told ABC News's George Stephanopoulos in an interview to air tonight that he doesn't want to move on health legislation, his top domestic priority, until Brown joins the Senate, which would give the GOP enough votes to sustain a filibuster.
"Here's one thing I know and I just want to make sure that this is off the table: The Senate certainly shouldn't try to jam anything through until Scott Brown is seated," the president said. "The people of Massachusetts spoke. He's got to be part of that process."

Obozo just became Jimmah Cahtah II.
Health care, it’s dead, Jim.
What do you mean check with Nancy and Harry. The most sovereign Lord has spoken!
Any chance of that would have been too radioactive for too many Senators, so now Obama takes the magnanimous route. He was never so gracious or scrupulous before.
Is he speaking out of turn? What will his handlers do?
You’re right.
What the mouth does is not always what the anus does ... and visa versa!
“Uh you better check that with Nancy and Harry....”
Separation of powers allows the house and senate to do things on their own schedule, Mabus cannot demand from them to not take a vote on this. Maybe Mabus is getting cold feet and just one year in his administration he is seeing his second term chances diminishing. It make me think, maybe Mabus doesn’t want to jump of the cliff after all.
Do I have enough time to pop some corn?
I worked HARD for Obama. I donated money. I now consider him the worst President in modern U.S. history.
talk about your stealth veto!!! bammy can say that he acted in the interest of bipartisanship. i’d say without a “robust” public option he’s not interested in the bill and would have been forced to sign whatever bill nancy and harry come out with regardless.
A thought: perhaps the top Dems believe the bill is dead (read: so damaged they don’t want it to pass), and are looking for a humane (read: face-saving) way to kill it (read: get it off their agenda). Facing a 41-vote filibuster, they may prep it for a vote, then declare it DOA & blame the Repubs for its demise.
Sounds like he is comfortable going back to blaming Republicans with the “party of no” argument.
Those two have got to be seething - I’m sure they had some plot to shove something through before Brown could be seated.
hope you wiped your feet before coming back here,,,,,
Either Zero has already secured Voinavich’s vote, or Snowe’s, or he realizes (shockingly) that he would lose the electorate on the pure partisan political move of ramming it through - and has no prayer doing so because the ship is being abandoned left and right by the Rats...
Obama blinked.
If he triangulates his Left wing the way Clinton did, he could salvage his presidency.
This is getting good. Obama is enormously damaged politically. Next thing we know, “someone” is going to “find” the birth certificate.
