BOSTON In an epic upset in liberal Massachusetts, Republican Scott Brown rode a wave of voter anger to defeat Democrat Martha Coakley in a U.S. Senate election Tuesday that left President Barack Obama's health care overhaul in doubt and marred the end of his first year in office.
The loss by the once-favored Coakley for the seat that the late Sen. Edward M. Kennedy held for nearly half a century signaled big political problems for the president's party this fall when House, Senate and gubernatorial candidates are on the ballot nationwide.

I don’t know about that but I watched his victory speech. He’s a very good speaker and charismatic guy.
Angels went down to Mass tonite and stopped Coakley and the acorn thugs dead! Thank God, and we will keep on fighting all over the country, from now on, whatever it takes!
Scott will have to soak in the bathtub longer than usual tonight after enduring those @$%holes.
To God be the glory, great things He hath done!!! Praise God for answering our prayers & hopes for our nation to turn back to God and to throw out the commie usurper 0bozo as well as the demoRATs from destroying our nation!!!
I just got back home from a friend's house as we were watching Fox News most of the evening, up through Coakley's concession speech and then the electrifying celebration & speech by Scott Brown!!! I haven't felt this good politically since 2004 or when Sarah Palin was first announced as VP candidate.
And BTW, Scott Brown's daughters are stunningly beautiful, IMHO!!! In fact to compare the Repub women on Scott's stage with the demoRAT women on "Marcia's" stage was like, well there is no comparison. Repub women are always more beautiful than the angry hags in demoRAT circles!!!
I thought it was rather uncanny, the resemblance between Marcia Croakley and Patty Murray (i(D)iot, WA)....
The Berkshires are blue for two reasons.
1) That is the area where Coakley was from.
2) That’s a liberal corridor, sort of a southern extension of Vermont, attracting the same mix of granola-eating former New Yorkers, Bostonians, etc.
3) There are more cows than people out in Western Massachusetts, so it didn’t affect the total very much.
Two reasons and a third observation.
Yes, I am on the west coast and even cspan1 one wasn't showing it (or2) but cspan3 was showing it.
I checked cnn, msnbc, hln, cnbc, all networks (abc, nbc, cbs, fox) and none of them were showing the part where Scott was speaking.
Perhaps the local networks in Mass showed it, but I don't know.
Wonder what Ms. C’s vote count would be, if only the legal, non-fraud ballots had been counted?
.
LOL - what a little witch...oops...sorry....can’t go negative....Scott Brown didn’t....
Republicans surf to victory on a wave of anger.
Democrats surf only on waves of hope.
“Hes a very good speaker and charismatic guy.”
Yeah. He has a big future.
They're in a real state of denial over there. Insane as usual, and in denial. There was only one poster out of over two hundred on the thread I was viewing who said it was a rejection of Obama's agenda. The rest piled on Croakley.
ROFLMBO - that there’s funny, I don’t care who you are. In celebration I opened a bottle of wine tonight. Normally I don’t drink during the week, but tonight was just begging for it.
I’m in Southie. Nobody says that.
I just did likewise to Barbara Boxer here in CA. I added that I hoped she is able to read the handwriting on the wall.
Yep, I think Scott will "go places". We met him on Sunday and participated in 3 Scott Brown rallies. He's the Real Deal. ;-)
Clearly you haven’t been watching the alphabet networks tonight.
ROFLMBO - that was great. Yes, I’d love to be a fly on the wall in the DimocRATS war room. I opened a bottle of Shiraz in celebration tonight. This victory called for a good bottle of Red. I’ll have the whiskey later.
