Kennedy was the last of his generation of Kennedys. I used to live in a small town that was run by one family. If they wanted something, it happened. When they died, their kids tried to run the town the same way and got slapped down hard. There was a lot of built up animosity towards the parents, but nobody dared oppose them because of their power (BTW, they happened to be pretty decent people) and there seem to be quite a few people in Massachusetts that resent the Kennedys assuming the seat would be theirs to control. But yeah, the forehead was right. Ted would have won without much opposition.
