But you see, to folks like Woodward, communism IS success. Even if it killed 100 million and ruined countless other lives and ravaged the countryside, hey, capitalists are evil, man!

...once the American people find out about what is in the legislation, the American people will like it “because Americans love entitlements.”

Yup. They'll just LOVE being entitled to death panels; much, much higher taxes and fines; not being able to see a doctor when they want, but rather when some bureaucrat can squeeze them in after a week or two; being informed that Grandma can't get the operation to save her but she will get hospice and some pain meds until she's no longer a burden; and having to go to Mexico for some new treatment because we don't do "risky" treatments in the USA anymore.

Unfortunately you are right....

Just watched Major Garret interview GW and bubba.

They both agree that the 10,000 faith based groups in Haiti(more than anywhere except India) will be the long range solution to the problem of poverty in Haiti, after govt. money and efforts have run out. They are right.

Thanks for the updates on what is happening on the shows!

It's called reportage. And I'm supposed to be saying that! :->

You are indeed correct. Thanks for noticing two of our stalwarts!

... they will have to pay an extra $45 million in ‘fees’ ...

The sad thing, Carley, is they won't pay them, you and the other customers will.

Actually, I think they are wrong. US assistence and faith based groups may ‘temporarily’ help but the corruption in government will get 99% of any real money or help. And they’ll still have a despot dictator backed by the US government.

The real solution is freedom and liberty. Let them develop a capitalist/market economy and they will fend for themselves. Even if they don’t know how yet, they’ll learn.

You hit on it of course but few realize that Haiti is no Iran, where a democracy could work almost overnight and to a certain extent did years ago under the shah, massive corruption aside.

The poverty, lack of jobs, lack of education and just the daily struggle for enough food on the table, a roof over one's head puts the lust for democracy down the line and not an immediate challenge.

True, but it has to happen if they ever want out of their current situation.  Little or no corruption and a government that encourages investment and competition, along with low taxes would stimulate investment and jobs. The Domican Republic is on the same island, Puerto Rico is not far.  Both of those are miles ahead of Haiti.

I just heard Clinton’s closing remarks on the State of the Union show, regarding Obama and the situation in Haiti.

“Everyone {Clinton does his usual laundry list of names and agencies] is doing a great job.”

Note: not just “Brownie”, but everyone in the entire Obama operation, is doing a great job. John King has no problem with that statement - which will be come the historical fact about this particular disaster.

Any criticism of this “fact” will be called “politicizing the tragedy.”

We can only hope that there are some patriotic Dems and others who do not want to hold hands and jump off the cliff together to commit political suicide.

No one has accused George W. Bush of being the sharpest blade in the drawer. Actually , Chertnoff was pretty rock solid as Homeland Security Chief along with Tom Ridge.

Good points about Blanco and Negrin. Bush never realized his dream of granting amnesty to all the illegal immigrants, but he was able to sabotage school choice and get an agreement with Teddy Kennedy to prop up the Public Schools and Teachers Unions.

Ultimately it all depends on who is running the country. If it's another tin horned dictator, freedom will remain allusive. If they get the right person at the right time, who knows.

This bank is one of the most successful banks in the state.

They pay good interest rates, have great customer service, and are very good members of their community.

They are being punished for doing the right thing. For being successful.

It’s sickening to watch what is happening to our country.

We must pray that these ba$tard$ lose their super majority.

Juan said two things that I found especially interesting. One is that the country is not the audience that the democrats are aiming their health care legislation at. I take this to mean that they do not care about the mood of the country being anti the current bill. Their concern is only directed at their devoted followers and those to be added to their rolls such as immigrants. The other is that Juan thinks the bill will become ‘extremely popular’ if passed because Americans like entitlements. He cited Medicare and Social Security. I believe he is right on both counts. The whole structure of the Obama administration is based on the belief of the socialists that their programs will be accepted with eagerness and open arms by enough Americans to keep them in power forever. We now have more citizens riding the wagon than pulling it and more being added each day due to the economic destruction that Obama has brought about this past year. Charles Krauthamer said that the democrts think that the bill will become acceptable if passed but that they are wrong. I do not know if Juan is on board with the RATs or is just stating what they believe. It is obvious that those pushing for passage of the bill, in any form, expect it to be worth losing their control of the presidency. They are building for the future and have never been more open and arrogant about their intentions.

I believe you are right on point. The ideology of the left is driving their actions with the belief Americans will sign on once it’s passed and thinking they are getting something for nothing.

Left unsaid in all this is every time the far left, Democrats, do this people eventually realize what happened and vote them out.

Republicans, sadly, try to “fix” the offending parts of the problem instead of repealing the whole thing. Thereby leaving the real problem in place and creating more havoc. Evidenced by the Energy Department, Education and others that Republicans tried to “fix” instead of getting rid of them. BUT, getting rid of them once they are in force is hard to do too. Democrats play the envy strategy and regain power. Think about it and you’ll come up with more examples.

The only way to stop this is Republicans willing to suffer the abuse and willing to lose elections by doing the right thing. The other strategy is someone like Sarah Palin, who is willing to take the establishment head on. This is one reason the left, and more than a few Republicans, are so intent on destroying her while voters love her.

But the most important thing is that all of us must press the issue from our perspective and “sell” the independents on the philosophy of capitalism, a market economy and individual responsibility.
