Sarah Palin campaign was a 'train wreck', insiders say (RINO Charges BARF Alert)

Fresh details emerged today of the backroom dramas as Sarah Palin alarmed her campaign managers with a string of gaffes during her run for vice-president in 2008.

Race of a Lifetime, a new book by John Heilemann and Mark Halperin which is serialised in The Times this week, reveals that advisers to John McCain were taken aback by how little Mrs Palin knew about politics and history when she was confirmed as Mr McCain's Republican running mate after a cursory, 12-hour selection process.

"You guys have a lot of work to do," Steve Schmidt, Mr McCain's campaign chief, is said to have told the experts he had recruited to tutor her. "She doesn't know anything."

Heilemann and Halperin write: "Palin couldn't explain why North Korea and South Korea were separate nations. She didn't know what the Fed [the Federal Reserve] did. Asked who attacked America on 9/11, she suggested several times that it was Saddam Hussein. Asked to identify the enemy that her son would be fighting in Iraq, she drew a blank. Later, on the plane, Palin said to her team: 'I wish I'd paid more attention to this stuff'."

Aside from the author who is after all selling a book he wrote, who are the witnesses to back up what she has allegedly said?

I’m sure you are right. Of course, giving credit where credit is due, you must admit, Mr. 0bama could pronounce “tah-lee-bahn” as authentically as any member of that organization.

I think, based on what little I know, that the problem Sarah had and her campaign handlers had, is she wasn't accustomed to being "handled."

To me, that's the beauty of Sarah Palin! Ask her a Q and you're going to get an honest answer. She wasn't good at "saying what she was supposed to say" rather than her perception of truth! That got her where she is!

More power to the real Sarah Palin!

Since McCain was the hand-picked opponent for the “omnipotent” one, it stands to reason that the so-called “staff” would try to bring Sarah Palin down since she surprised them all by being extremely well spoken and very, very much a great conservative...

IOW, she scared the crap outta them....

Hear! Hear! I’ll second your sentiments.

Now when you need to express the same sentiments to an intellectual (or self-proclaimed intellectual, which is much more common than the real thing), toss in a little Aristotle: note that what Aristotle called “the ruling virtues” are not the same as intellectual attainment in the academic sense, and give as an example the train-wreck which was the Carter presidency vs. victory in the Cold War and the start of the longest peace-time economic expansion under the less academically qualified Reagan. You might also suggest that the last people to exhibit both the ruling virtues and intellectual prowess in the academic sense in significant measure were Thomas Jefferson and Frederick the Great of Prussia.

Gov Palin loves her family. She loves America. She knows that an un-born child is a precious life from G-d.
She can shoot, hunt, fish and butcher prey, AND she looks like a “10” while she does it.
Like Flounder said “Oh boy!, this is gonna be great!”

BTW - she is coming to Fox news based in NY metro area. Maybe buy a pied-à-terre in Chappaqua, Westchester County. Maybe run for Senate in NYS?
He he he he he, we can wish for big things can’t we?

And he’s been in office nearly a year and hasn’t revived the economy after pissing away everyone’s hopes and dreams.

I do not believe for a minute the scene with her rubbing off her makeup before an interview and saying she looked fat. Just utterly absurd. This is one of the most sexist lie-filled lieces of excrement passing as journalism I have ever seen.

Poor Schmitt, is still in a snit because McCain chose a beautiful WOMAN to be his VP. I think Schmitt likes women in high places. He’s a bad mouth too.

Shoot, Obama has had a year in office and still doesn’t know who we’re fighting

Who Obama is fighting and who America is fighting are not the same "enemy".

Now, do we really need someone like Steve telling the rest of us how to run the Republican party?

We don't need Steve or David Frum crowning themselves chairmen of the GOP.  It's bad enough Michael Steele is running the party.

Yes, with Obama the issue is how much he ‘knows’ that isn’t true!
