Sarah Palin campaign was a 'train wreck', insiders say (RINO Charges BARF Alert)

Fresh details emerged today of the backroom dramas as Sarah Palin alarmed her campaign managers with a string of gaffes during her run for vice-president in 2008.

Race of a Lifetime, a new book by John Heilemann and Mark Halperin which is serialised in The Times this week, reveals that advisers to John McCain were taken aback by how little Mrs Palin knew about politics and history when she was confirmed as Mr McCain's Republican running mate after a cursory, 12-hour selection process.

"You guys have a lot of work to do," Steve Schmidt, Mr McCain's campaign chief, is said to have told the experts he had recruited to tutor her. "She doesn't know anything."

Heilemann and Halperin write: "Palin couldn't explain why North Korea and South Korea were separate nations. She didn't know what the Fed [the Federal Reserve] did. Asked who attacked America on 9/11, she suggested several times that it was Saddam Hussein. Asked to identify the enemy that her son would be fighting in Iraq, she drew a blank. Later, on the plane, Palin said to her team: 'I wish I'd paid more attention to this stuff'."

Yeah, I read it. Thanx! Looks to me like that this thing is being used by some very unhappy RINOs and scared libs to try and strike back against “Going Rogue.” The question is who are we going to believe? The RINO/Lib crowd, or our own lying eyes?

I posted this on similar thread - because I truly believe there are saboteurs in many crucial campaigns.

With all due respect to the honest Republican/Conservative aids and staff who work for GOP sentators, reps and governors........I have to believe a high percentage of Washington wonks are Democrat moles or opportunists...giving tainted advice and *facts* to gullible, trusting GoPpies.

It is not paranoia if those you trust are working against you...undercover and masquerading in the media to skew the propoganda in favor of the socialist conspiracy.

Whether she knows anything or not is not the point, like the DumBOcrats got their know nothing, the Republican voter knew that their know something candidate was not what they wanted. If not for the certainty of the catastrophic result of the alternative, more would have not voted for McCain.

The leftist media has it in for Palin because she represents EVERYTHING they detest:

Pro-life

Pro Bill of Rights

Pro America

Anti Big government

Palin may not have had as great a grasp of foreign issues as she should have, but in all honesty, her selection as VP by McManiac was a surprise and she couldn't have been expected to know what the media challenged her on. I am confident she has corrected that lack of familiarity.

Plain ran a town, and the largest state in the Union geographically.

That alone made her far more qualified than the Barrack the Bastard who never ran so much as a lemonade stand in his entire life.

If it were NOT for Palin, McManiac would have lost by far more votes - AND THE KNOWS AND RESENTS THAT.

By now, the blatant left-wing, anti-American bias of the mainstream media should be as manifest as that of the Educational Establishment. Their “take” on any issue can no longer be seriously considered by any thinking American, along with their biased presentation of the news. And they have done AND STILL CONTINUE to do their best to slander, calumniate and libel a Great American - because she is just that - A GREAT AMERICAN.

As for McCain, Schmidt, Steele, and those other RINO phonies who have wormed their way into the upper echelons of the GOP and the RNC - your day is coming. The Tea Party people are after your lying, narcissistic, egomaniacal scalps.

Sorry, I was one of Romney’s footsoldiers back in MA—and I know how he works. Also, Schmidt’s been kissing up to Romney publicly. Why don’t you stop accusing me of that for which you’ve no evidence?

Apparently, the dumbest woman on the planet kicked Biden’s ass in the debates. Gee, what’s that tell you about Biden... and by default, the O.

Steve Schmidt has high praise for Romney and will more than like be a hack for him in ‘12.
I will try and act shocked.”

Another reason why Romney will NEVER get my vote.

Mr. Schmidt was the campaign manager and Senator McCain was the Candidate and according to the present story line, they were competent, capable and fully qualified for their positions. It was Governor Palin who was ignorant, lacked class and was totally unqualified for the Vice Presidency.

First, if Senator McCain really believed that Senator Liberman would be the best running mate, he should have had the courage to select him. What does it tell us about the candidate that he would back off his choice simply because word leaked out early. Did he expect to go through the whole campaign without anyone knowing the identity of his running mate?

Second, selecting a running mate was one of the most important early steps in the campaign. It was the responsibility of the campaign manager to make sure that the vice presidential candidate was properly vetted. If Governor Palin was as unqualified as they now would have us believe, was that her failure or was it a failure of the campaign manager and the presidential candidate. Did she seek the job and force herself on the ticket, or did they ask her to join them?

Third, if Mr. Schmidt asserts that Governor Palin would not follow the campaign script but concedes that the campaign did better with her than they would have without her, is he acknowledging that the script was wrong? There seems to be some disconnect here.

There were many things wrong with McCain’s campaign, including his deferential approach to his opponent, his hostile approach to his supporters, and his egotistic suspension of the campaign to return to Washington to solve the financial crisis. Sarah Palin was not one of his problems, to the contrary, by the end she was almost the only positive aspect of a poorly run campaign.

Skinhead Schmidt is working with a PR/political outfit in Sacramento so he can help Romney--appaarently engineered by his old boss McJuan. The Ken-doll moved to SoCal some time ago. This was on a thread a couple of days ago, with a link.

9YrLurker, tried to address you too but they "could not find anybody named 9YrLurker"! Are you a ghost? :)

All I've accused you of doing is making things up on no evidence and you just admitted to it.

I could believe there would be things she wouldn’t know.

I can’t believe she wouldn’t know why there was a north and south korea, or what the Fed was, given that she had been a Governor for 2 years and had to have dealt with the Fed.

I also doubt she thought Saddam Hussein had attacked us on 9/11.

I have to doubt these things, because there is no way they could be true and Palin could be qualified for the VP slot.

I sent money to Scott Brown instead. This is important.

Sarah's PAC supplies money to Linseed Graham, Orrin Hatch & Murkowski--some of RINOs who need to be retired.

JD Hayworth will need contributions when he announces, and McJuan is already running radio ads slamming the guy.

How could Sarah’s campaign be a train wreck when it was NEVER her campaign to begin with, it was McCain’s Campaign!

I wrote in my original post “it seems”, with the point being that Romney has historically been careful to keep his fingerprints off his rough play. In my reply I explained why I had reason to surmise this could be fitting into that pattern with both Romney and Schmidt.

You’ve been nasty in both postings to me, and I’ll not reply to you again. I post here in part because the vast majority of Freepers are both polite and intellectually honest.

In classic FR style, Romney is trotted out to be pilloried for something with zero evidence against him.

I'm not a fan of Romney at all, and I truly hope he does not run for president again. Nevertheless, I agree with you. But remember, we're not dealing with adults here.

Also, Schmidt’s been kissing up to Romney publicly.

Document it, or you're just as phony as Schmidt is.

I’m sure Schmidt doesn’t know what the hell he’s talking about. We can’t prove it because we weren’t there. Schmidt isn’t a political genius, or McCain would have won in 2008.
