Thanks for thanking for the correction, or I wouldn’t have seen that it isn’t the Ambassador, but the C.G.

In any case, I posted at #55, a Babelfish translation of the NRK story about it.

If anyone is able to translate Babelfish to English...

We are living in "interesting" times...

If by "interesting" you mean "scary as hell" then yeah.

That's pretty much the size of it. It comes from a Chinese *curse* which says "May you live in interesting times."

The meaning is along the lines of you will suffer if you do because peaceful times are boring and never noticed by history. (Someone else probably has a better history of the curse than I do.)

I have the Consul title reconfirmed from reliable (non-Twitter) on the ground Norway source. This was the name and title announced on national Norwegian TV.

Happened TEN DAYS AGO!

It’s an “old” event but NEW story as the Norwegians sat on it till now.

Good. Then he's obviously been fully debriefed, and perhaps some journalists will be able to interview him.

I wonder how many other events have transpired in the last 2 weeks that we also know nothing about?

Misunderstood by Americans on twitter. All the Americans are tweeting Ambassador Heydari...in parenthesis.

He embodies an inversion of all that is true, productive and virtuous. An almost perfect negative.

Maybe that is why he is so despised by so many.

Google translation of that article:

The Consul at the Iranian embassy in Oslo has resigned in protest against the regime’s violence against demonstrators.

The Consul is located in Oslo, but has not yet signed up for the Norwegian authorities. Mohammed Reza Heydari har jobber ved ambassaden i tre år. Mohammed Reza Heydari have jobs at the embassy for three years.
Protest mot myndighetene Protest against government

It was the Iranian government’s treatment of protesters during Christmas which meant that I had no conscience to continue, “says Heydari told NRK.

Then at least eight people were killed and many arrested.

He confirms that he has retired and is considering asking the Norwegian government for help.

Bekymret Concerned

The head of the Norwegian-Iranian support committee Rahman Saki is concerned Heydaris security.

It is very difficult because he will be punished severely if he returns to Iran. Not only he but also the family, “said Saki.

A spokesman for the Iranian embassy in Oslo will not let himself be interviewed about what he calls a lie and resolve rumors.

I would so much love seeing a true Syrian culture take hold again in the middle east after all these centuries.
