Breaking: Michael Yon arrested at Seattle airport
Hot AirPundit ^ | January 05, 2010 | Ed MORRISSEY

Posted on 01/05/2010 10:39:04 AM PST by RobinMasters

Thank goodness our Homeland Security people are on the job after the EunuchBomber botched attack on Christmas Day. We certainly don’t want to have independent war correspondents passing through our airports without revealing their annual income:

Got arrested at the Seattle airport for refusing to say how much money I make. (The uniformed ones say I was not “arrested”, but they definitely handcuffed me.) Their videos and audios should show that I was polite, but simply refused questions that had nothing to do with national security. Port authority police eventually came — they were professionals — and rescued me from the border bullies.

well we have RORO service from Wilmington Delaware to Germany, from there it is a pleasant drive to Paris.

so it’s easy, drive to Delaware, drive onto the ship (after the VW’s are driven off) and take a pleasant ocean voyage to Europe.

hope this helps... I am sure the MRS will be pleased.

**HA..got you beat by years...I quit flying when you couldnt smoke anymore...**

Last time I few was 1998... I’ve managed to avoid it. Included job on west coast.. They accounted for travel time, and pay was enough to make it worth it ... so EFF the AIRLINES

A bunch of Freepers say that TSA needs to emulate the terrorism prevention procedures of Israel’s El Al airline.

If so, this sort of incident will become commonplace. El Al conducts a thorough interrogation about how one’s life story led to his deciding to board the El Al flight that day. Most of the questions have nothing to do with flight safety. Rather, El Al’s tag-team of interrogators spends 20 to 30 minutes alternately asking personal questions trying to trip up the prospective passenger. If one wants to board the El Al flight, one answers the questions no matter how intrusive.

El Al has good reasons for their security procedures, and thier staff is professionally competent. It’s unlikely that TSA could possibly measure up ... heck, even the CIA can’t even stop a terrorist when his own father pleads with its agents to deter his son. What hope does the TSA have?

Environmentalists should support El Al-type security screening anyway. Passengers must check in three hours before departure time. This would substantially reduce the capacity of airports to handle passenger traffic and make air travel even more cumbersome than it is today.

This sounds like ICE, not the TSA. ICE is looking for smugglers. ...like someone coming back from an opium producing area with no visible means of support.

Queen Mary II (nice boat) does the whole transatlantic crossing thing. Just like the old days.

I'm sure the wifey wouldn't mind.

Yon probably has annoyed a lot of libs by his honest and sympathetic reporting on our troops in dangerous places. He didn’t get the message that the press is supposed to undermine the troops.

But I doubt if his name is on a watch list. I would guess that this is just an normal case of bureaucratic bullies, who know that they have the full weight of the government behind everything they do.

By the way, be sure to follow that link at the end to what the CIA has been doing under obama—watching the ice melt instead of watching for terrorists.

Told the wife is she ever wants to see paris she will have to divorce me or wait till I die....cuz I aint goin unless I can drive...

Or they could bring back the transatlantic ocean liners. I would be willing to go that route if it meant not having to go through these ridiculous, feel-good-but-not-really-secure "security" measures.

http://www.shipping-worldwide.com/car-exports.html

here is a list of RORO (roll on roll off) shipping routes.

after you find the two ports you want to use, you will need to start researching about availability of passanger cabions on these ships, and rules for driving your american car at your destination.

if you go, post a long vanity about your adventure.

I am planning to ride my Harley to Turkey, through Syria
and Jordan then back. Avoid Lebanon crazies and Israeli
border crossing stamps and 5 hour vehicle inspections.
