HEMET, Calif. Police say someone tried to blow up a gang task force building in Southern California by piping in natural gas.
Police say two officers from the Riverside County-based task force evacuated the building early Thursday after arriving for work and smelling a strong odor.

I don’t get this.
I watched the video. The building is the shape and configuaration of a large single-family dwelling. It has open space around it. It’s all out in the open.
This is a police facility!
How did ANYONE PIPE nuatural gas through the ROOF (of all places) without being spotted by either police or people in surrounding buildings?????
I once saw a city limit sign that said: pop XXXX and one sore head.............that you?
Where there is a will there is a way.
“pop XXXX and one sore head”
Makes no sense at all.
Can’t help you there.
Come to think of it, that strong odor could have drifted over from the onion fields to Florida St.
signing off - Pray for our beloved country
If you don’t know what XXXX is why did you type it?
People that write in alphabet soup should be executed along with anyone that uses dope!!!
I can’t help you comprehend that POP on a city limit sign means population. XXXX means I don’t remember the exact number other than just greater than 1,000 but less than 10,000. One means one.
Every city limit sign i’ve ever seen spelled out population.
Happy 2010~
Okay, this is my last beer for the year and then I’m swearing off 2009.
No, I'm not done with beer, just 2009.
The fellow that put in my heater, baseboard water type, made a work of art out of the prior mess and was done with the entire replacement of old system in under 6 hours.
Knew his stuff. I am happy to pay for quality.
OTOH, most of the fires here in town are from ‘freelance’ plumbers, or so it seems.
Maybe the Hall is here is just tighter on quality.
Union car makers - IMO, are the reason the US is in such bad shape.
Not all Unions are BAD, nor are all Union types good.
My dad was a big time Union supporter, I belonged to one once - didn't do me any good tho.
So - it is a box of chocolates thing, eh?
I don’t know where you live, but in most of the country, there is no union plumber to call for your residential repair.
Where do you live?
Natural Gas is odorless, but Mercapitan is added as an odorant to detect gas leaks. Since Nat Gas is lighter than air, but propane is heavier than air, one wonders if this wasn’t propane piped into the bldg. Hard to tell.
In Hemet, those strong odors are usually associated with the dairy stockyards down the street.
By the way, as a plumber and a plumbing contractor, I have paid attention to plumbing fires for many decades, where do you live where you have heard of so many, of something that is so rare.
What is a "freelance" plumber, are you sure that you are not confusing licensed plumbing contractors with handymen and guys that you think are "plumbers"? Here on the Southern California coast, with the multi million dollar homes, I am not aware of any union, service plumbing shops, I have heard of them in New York, but they don't exist in most of the nation, the private sector won't hire them.
No it isn't.
I have been desperate for work many times in different states and cities, and I have been offered union membership, I have always refused it.
I can tell you of the most horrible sales pitches, things like "they can't fire you", "once you make it, you don't have to do anything", I was the guy that always preferred commision based on what I produced, unions are not for the independent man.
Anchorage AK.
I’ll have to add that to my about page - thanks.
