Taking medication for a back problem. Hmmmm, he isn’t back on the “pills” again, is he? I hope this man is OK, America needs him.

I hope he hasn’t gone back to painkillers either.

Still, good to know he’s alert and everything.

There are non-narcotics pain relievers that he could be taking. But if he needs narcotics for a short period of time, say for a heart attack, he shouldn't be denied them. Opiates like morphine relieve stress on the heart.

Keep him alive now; fix any drug issues later! :)

He has been in such pain he has been standing and doing the show. He specifically said he couldn’t take some of the meds he was on before. So, he is either taking something lesser like an anti-inflammatory or it has gotten so bad he is taking something stronger under doctor supervision. The man is in pain. Pills are very easy to become addicted to for those in pain. I have a cousin who has had her life ruined by it. She is a shell. It’s horrible either way. Rush knows what is at stake and he is nobody’s fool. And whatever medic released the information to the pig reporter needs to learn what HIPPA is all about. That salacious bit of gossip just had to make it into the article.

If someone is suffering from pain, and I mean REALLY hurting, what are they supposed to do? Suffer? Having said that, given his history of addiction, if he had to take such medicines for a true medical ailment, I hope they worked it out to where he could be given the medicines by another party. He shouldn't be 'turned loose' with his own bottle of OC, or whatever he might need to take for his condition, if he has one.

I also picked up on the back problem line. I know its not really my business, and its pure speculation....but I hope he hasn’t relapsed....for his own health, and his show’s health.

I would bet that it is Neurontin, there are warnings all over the label to immediately alert medical personnel that you are taking it. That makes you kind of paranoid when you are taking it.

Have you ever had a really bad back problem? My uncle was in an offshore explosion several years ago. The explosion was so powerful he landed through an open shaft onto a beam, which ruined his back. After several years of therapy, drugs, and surgeries nothing worked, so a morphine pump was put into the back in order to relieve the pain enough for him to sleep and walk on occasion.

So until you’ve gone through what another has gone through then don’t judge the person. In this cynical accusatory world we need to pray for those who are going through such tough times.

President Obama is entitled to medical confidentiality, as is every citizen of the country. You give up certain rights to privacy as a public figure but not your right to medical confidentiality. For the media to drop that juicy little gossip nugget just reminds me that journalism is sadly a dishonorable profession.

And you are correct friend; we need Rush more than we ever have, and he himself recognizes this. Rush will take care of himself so he will be able to continue to provide leadership for the conservative movement and help preserve the principles on which this country was founded.

First thing that popped into my mind too. First he ruined his hearing. NOw he’s ruined his heart. I’m sure I’m just paranoid though.

I wondered the same thing. He mentioned on the air, sometime in the last month, that he was in quite a bit of pain (in his back) but wouldn’t take any pain medication.

He implied that we know why.

Prayers up, Rush!

....taking medication for a back problem....

My first thoughts, too, were that he might be hooked again on pain killers. Hope not.
