CBS radio reporting new action at Detroit Airport.
This bothers me.
If I were going to think like a terrorist, with the resources available via the airline industry, I’d focus on binary explosives so that they were not detectable, after I maneuvered the public into a frustrated sense of inadequate and foolish inspection procedures.
I would study the airline industry operations to a fine detail.
Fuel, mechanical, compressed air, baggage, consumables, and water would be obvious areas where a terrorist would focus on compromising security.
Chemical toilets are an interesting objective.
Mechanically they might be modified to become reaction vessels in a relatively stable chemical process to produce larger volumes of relative stable volatile compounds.
The chemical storage tank could be adapted to accept one reagent of a binary chemical mix, with a catalyst or other reagents later added to form a larger explosive as in a binary mix.
Delivery of actual volatile or reagent compounds to the storage vessels on the aircraft might be fairly innocuous.
A booster and primer might be later assembled at the aircraft closer to time of detonation, either by specific operation or further deconvoluted operational exercise.
I wonder if the first attempt was a method to telegraph to multiple dark operatives that a particular method of bringing a booster or primer on board was feasible, and the second operation wasn’t an attempt to test a binary reactant operation.
If it were a clandestine operation, the operative wouldn’t have used the same occupation as the first, unless it provided justifiable collusion amongst conspirators, or unless he was seeking free press or broadcasting of events surrounding his activity.
If I were in charge of security for that airline, I’d freeze the assets at a location where it could be gone over with a fine tooth comb, and I’d process the crap out of everything and everyone associated with that flight and aircraft over the past month.
If I were in charge of the FAA, I’d closely re-evaluate all operational procedures with aircraft, just to change up workflows a bit to make sure somebody wasn’t institutionally allowing several thousand aircraft to inadvertently be turned into bombs by randomly placed passengers.
On the other hand, if intel were really good, they would have already known about this before Thanksgiving, swapped aircraft and nomenclatures, allowed the bad guys to act, to trace their lineage.
My experience with government and impression of this Administration, though, is it is more likely the former.
Or maybe it really is happenstance (My conscience says no way.).
What kind of guys come from Nigeria?
bttt
well.........do we have a link yet?
Well, between the prison converts, and the jihadi immigrants...they'd have a huge cheering crowd to witness the death and destruction.
lol
I wonder if this guy panicked and dumped his contraband in the toilet. Seems like one hell of a coincidence. Detroit needs to be looked at very closely by the FBI and Homeland Security. Although, with this administration that would be profiling, Eric Holder wouldn’t allow it, that would be a more serious crime than terrorism.
That will work about ten minutes, and then Al Qaeda will just teach its airplane suicide bombers basic dead reckoning.
Of course it doesn't matter. I can only guess Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab wanted to rain debris on the United States, a la Pan Am 103 in Lockerbie.
Who is to say the next attack will be over the open ocean, or right after reaching cruise altitude?
I was thinking the same thing. Too much to be a coincidence.
If you would like to be added or dropped from the Michigan ping list, please freepmail me.
I think this dude was trying to flush his bomb material down the crapper.
Obviously that was the key idea Newt spoke of. Time to get tough on terrorism. And it is not going to happen with zero running the helm.
Hope I’m not revealing anything here, but it appears a bomb attack at low altitude is more likely to succeed for three reasons:
1) The plane fuselage is weaker at low altitude, since there is no extra internal pressure to stress the frame and skin.
2) The pilot has less time to maneuver the plane if it is close to the ground when damaged.
3) Airports are close to populated areas, so there is more likely to be damage on the ground as well.
Since the final landing approach only takes 10-15 minutes, it’s hard to figure out the one hour no-stand prohibition.
I hope this isn’t just the beginning. Obama inspires, at best, no respect, and at worst, ridicule internationally. I’m afraid with Obozo’s butt kissing, panty-waisted bowing and otherwise apologizing to the whole world, that things are only going to get worse.
Yes, it's like an inflated balloon. Although the skin doesn't stretch so much, but it does stretch.
You explain to me the necessity of a black male searching a disabled white senior citizen with an electronic device.
Afterall, it is idiots like you who find no issue with this politically correct horsesh!t.
According to KCTanker, you are a "stupid" racist if you find a problem with TSA workers targeting white senior citizens while waving muslim males onto the plane with no issue.
Afterall, it is political correctness that works so efficiently at the airports.
/Sarc
What if it were a white male searching a disabled white senior citizen? Would you have a problem with that?
It is "TankerKC". Do try to pay attention.
Where did I use the word racist? Feeling a bit guilty?
