Umm he went through security overseas, so how do they know our machines need to be upgraded? (the fact that they actually do is secondary)

They will use this incident to make the full body scanners mandatory at all airports.

The only way the system worked is if there was a secret detonator disabler at the gate.

Joking aside, it appears that this explosive is relatively easy to ignite and after all, there was some kind of initiation.

I wonder if the components or blend was not right.

Whatever list he was on needs to be added to the NO-Fly list. At the very least we need to start profiling and doing more questioning and searching of all young muslim sounding or look young men.

Early Dutchman reports said he saw a **sophisticated DEVICE** on this lab, and not something like a BAG of mixed chemicals.

Jack Bauer got in there and substituted a dud detonator for the real one. “It’s all part of the plan.”

Al Qaida has always had a Keystone Kops quality about it. 911 had more opportunities to fail than succeed. It only succeeded because of the incredible political correctness and incompetence of the FAA security apparatus, a tradition handed on down to the elephantine TSA.

had the detonator not failed, and the nation's outdated airport screening machines may need to be upgraded.

The liberal answer, of course, is spend more money - after all, our debt isn't anywhere close to high enough.

But more questionably is why would upgrading any (or perhaps all) of the screening machines in the US have affected this in the slightest? Do we have US screening machines over in foreign countries? Certainly news to me; I mean, I suppose I could expect them to be in Iraq, possibly Afghanistan, but doubtful in Europe. That was where the plane came from that nearly blew up over our city, right?

The incompetence of Barack Hussein Obama and his Black Muslim Presidency is limitless:

1. Obama’s FBI did not alert the ARMY that Maj Nidal Hassan was a Muslim Extremist.

2. Obama’s DSH posts super secret Airport Screening Manual on the internet.

3. Obama’s State Dept did nothing to revoke Abdul Farouk Abdulmutallab’s VISA after Abdul’s father told the US Embassy that his son was a MUSLIM Extremist.

Now this same incompetent Black Muslim Presidency wants to manage our HEALTHCARE!!!!!!!!!!!

All US citizens should be required to fly on commercial airlines and all terrorists should be required to fly on Air Force One.

This will save time, money and lives.

Gol durn it, the press just has to stop changing their minds. They just got through telling me that only Janet Napolitano saved this airplane from disaster. Who needs a silly old detonator thingy when we have Janet from another Planet.

As for screening devices, Janet has saved us once again. The TSA has approved a device that would have easily detected this bomb. Its a millimeter wave radar system built by L3Com (They call it Provision). Its been tested to be far superior to the magnatometers currently in use. Oh wait, it seems that TSA has only a few in limited use in a few airports. It seems that a few people object because it can “see” underneath clothing and we don’t want to offend anyone.
