New rules imposed by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration also limit on-board activities by customers and crew in U.S. airspace that may adversely impact on-board service. Among other things, during the final hour of flight customers must remain seated, will not be allowed to access carry-on baggage, or have personal belongings or other items on their laps. source

Why don’t we just administer sedatives to all passengers prior to taking off — then we won’t have to worry about ANY of this!

great... so now the guy that refuses to put down the cell phone prior to departure becomes and airborne security event when he refuses to put away his laptop. Of course, such an event will require a diversion to an alternate airport for safety. No wonder the air canada advisory warns of increased delays!

Great...not only do we get strip-searched prior to getting on the plane, we have to be bored to tears after getting on it.
