CNSNews.com) - Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) said the White House and the Democratic leadership in the House of Representatives have been pressuring him not to speak out on the "compromise" abortion language in the Senate version of the health care bill.
They think I shouldnt be expressing my views on this bill until they get a chance to try to sell me the language, Stupak told CNSNews.com in an interview on Tuesday. Well, I dont need anyone to sell me the language. I can read it. Ive seen it. Ive worked with it. I know what it says. I dont need to have a conference with the White House. I have the legislation in front of me here.
The Michigan Democrat succeeded last month in getting 64 House Democrats to join him in attaching his pro-life amendment to the House version of the health-care bill. The Stupak amendment, as the provision is known, would prohibit the federal government from allocating taxpayer money to pay for any part of any health insurance plan that covers abortion except in cases of rape, incest, or when the life of the mother is in danger.

If I had to predict, I think the Stupak Amendment will essentially be put back into the bill when it goes to reconcilliation. The question will be, will that be too much for the uber leftist? No government option, no expansion of medicaid, no cutting of medicare and no abortion. Will they feel this is worthy of voting for? Unfortunately, I think the answer is yes, they will still vote for it.
Perhaps Senator Colburn can sneak a castle doctrine gun law in there like he did with the credit card bill earlier this year. That could tip the scales for the uber left to vote against it... : )
This is a financial move. The more abortions, the fewer souls the government must care for.
His principled stand is commendable. But if he is that principled, he needs to shed his D label altogether. I don’t trust anyone with a D after his name and have yet to see anything to make me change my mind.
“This is a financial move. The more abortions, the fewer souls the government must care for.”
But, also fewer souls to pay taxes.....
This entire idea is DEMONIC.
Rush brought up something yesterday that convicted me to the core.
Neighbor will DESPISE neighbor before too long.
Imagine having 2/3 of your income CONFISCATED for “healthcare” and seeing your neighbor eating a double cheeseburger & fries, knowing that his “cost to the medical system” will be taking medical care resources from YOUR CHILDREN.
Imagine having (unmarried) neighbors with umpteen kids that are being taken care of on YOUR dime, while you have 2.1 children because you’re “more responsible”. (not saying it IS more responsible to have fewer kids)
I can’t help but believe that this is one of the main purposes of this idea.
Rep. Stupak should seriously consider hiring a food taster and some bodyguards.
The criminals in the White House should be arrested.
I agree. I am feeling these people are possesed by evil spirits. I find them Revolting.
Look at the recent EPA ruling on a chemical that every living being exudes (CO2). They'll regulate anything and everything they d@mn well please, and we'll have nothing to say about it.
I think their whole idea is that people will be CLAMORING for the government to control other people’s behavior.
It empowers them even further.
DEMONIC. SATANIC.
Fascist bastards. Someone’s gonna get STRUNG UP over this.
Imagine having (unmarried) neighbors with umpteen kids that are being taken care of on YOUR dime, while you have 2.1 children because youre more responsible. (not saying it IS more responsible to have fewer kids)
We already see this now. I am sure I am not the only person who has lost count of the number of times he's waited in line at the grocery store behind some bum who is buying only the very best and most expensive food with food stamps, only to then watch them drive off in an SUV that you couldn't afford to own. Most likely those bums probably get Medicaid and their bum kids get SCHIP too. The even funnier part, while you're cutting back on expenses to make ends meet, they're living it up with premium cable, flat panel HDTVs, and the latest and greatest cell phones. All that of course is possible when you don't have to spend YOUR money on things like rent/mortgage, food, and medical care.
I cant help but believe that this is one of the main purposes of this idea.
Why not? The entire point of this and every welfare program is to swell the ranks of reliable liberal voters. When a liberal runs saying his/her opponent is going to take away a bum's food or medical care, you can be certain said bum will always vote liberal.
I called Casey’s Pittsburgh office and told the man that answered the phone that Sen Casey’s father would have been very disappointed in the Senator voting to be a baby killer. If this can get legs, it might just be what we need to turn a Democrat against the Health Care bill. The elder Casey was so prolife that it most likely costed him a legitimate run at the Presidency.
This is exactly what happened in the former eastern block countries. I don't normally like to watch subtitled movies, but if you have a chance and you want to see where our society is headed, check out a movie called "The lives of others". It's a real eye opener.....
If you have never seen the movie “Idiocracy,” I suggest you get it from Netflicks and see how this is all going to turn out.
I am sure Stupak and the “blue dog” coalition has their price. Ben Nelson whored out, so did Blanche and Landrieu...these House reps are small potatoes. They’ll be whipped in line or bought.
You’re thinking in worldly/political terms.
This is about making neighbor hate neighbor, destroying Christ’s “second, equally greatest commandment”.
Mathew 22:39
A second is equally important: Love your neighbor as yourself.
I’ve seen it.
Warning to Christian FReepers - it is CRUDE and vulgar.
(and funny and prescient)
I know. And I cannot bring myself to "love" someone who takes food from my child's mouth.
