Seems to me that the rapid increase in incarceration rates which began in the 1980s is paying dividends:





Of course, the New York Times never quite grasped that concept. They ran several editorials complaining that the prison population was rising despite falling crime rates. Despite? Huh? It seemed never to have occurred to them that crime rates were falling because more bed guys were in jail. Not exactly rocket science, but evidently too tough a concept for some to grasp.

What i meant, of course, was "...because more bed bad guys were in jail."
