..Jim DeMint and John Ensign are going to force a vote on the issue. Democrats will be forced to take a position on whether or not the federal government can force individuals to buy products on pain of criminal penalty.
I am incredibly concerned that the Democrats proposed individual mandate provision takes away too much freedom and choice from Americans across the country, said Senator Ensign. As an American, I felt the obligation to stand up for the individual freedom of every citizen to make their own decision on this issue. I dont believe Congress has the legal authority to force this mandate on its citizens.
Forcing every American to purchase a product is absolutely inconsistent with our Constitution and the freedoms our Founding Fathers hoped to protect, said Senator DeMint. This is not at all like car insurance, you can choose not to drive but Americans will have no choice whether to buy government-approved insurance. This is nothing more than a bailout and takeover of insurance companies. Were forcing Americans to buy insurance under penalty of law and then Washington bureaucrats will then dictate what these companies can sell to Americans. This is not liberty, it is tyranny of good intentions by elites in Washington who think they can plan our lives better than we can.

Yes, a Civil War in the courts....
I like this guy.
Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaallelujah!!!
Almost everything this congress has done is unconstitutional. It’s about time someone called them out on it.
If Hunter doesn’t run, I’m going to do everything I can to get DeMint to do so.
“I like this guy”
So do I.
He just keeps getting better.
Actually, I’m all for a real civil war. I want my country back.
Lots of constitutional issues to address right up to eligibility.
Yes, Junior Mints and Jim DeMints can be very refreshing.
Jim DeMint to Force a Vote on Constitutionality of the Individual Mandate
Go Jim. This gives us hope that maybe if we can get a lot of guys in office like him we can keep America!
Hunter is a great man, but he is nowhere near as electable as DeMint, in my opinion.
By what means does he intend to ‘force’ this vote he speaks of?
If Hunter wins the nomination, trust me, he will roll right over the boy marxist. The problem is getting the starry eyed jackasses in the GOP to vote for a conservative in the primary.
Play it safe
join oathkeepers
we will defend our constutition
I wish the article would have explained how, procedurally, they are going to force that vote.
I suspect SOME dims may see this as unconstitutional.
Or at least go on record, up front, that you will not consider any future Senate to be bound by that provision.

Let his office know.
How does congress get to vote on whether their legislation is constitutional ?
Have a suit ready to go before SCOTUS the minute it becomes law.
