Right now, the Senate is voting on a procedural motion to table debate on the Defense bill - which Republicans are hoping to filibuster, in an effort to stall debate on the upcoming Health bill. Because Lieberman didn't show up today, the Republicans just need to stick together on this to prevail - without defections from Collins or Snowe.

Yes, a Kennedy top aide sits in his seat. They have the 60 votes.
I can't find the sweetheart deal that Bill (not Ben) Nelson supposedly got for certain areas in the manager's amendment. Maybe your link is not the whole amendment. See this thead:
Another POS bill passed in the middle of the night.
That’s how I read it too. If that is the case Nelson only really cared about the Medicaid cash. Politicians in the various states are going to be furious is they are now dragged into this mess and will have to vote on abortion funding bills thanks to this nonsense. Most importantly though, is that it is going to be very, very hard for Stupak and friends to support this in the House. This is not over. Reid seems to only care about getting something out of the Senate and punting problems with the bill over to Pelosi.
Backroom deals.
The damn bill which NOBODY has read was written behind closed doors by Rahm, Reid, Schumer and other thugs.
If they have the balls vote on it right now.
What is Webb’s stance at the moment. He he still “undecided.”
As I see it, these filthy ‘Rats should all be undecided until Reid pays their price. That seems to be the game.
I know there’s a way to go yet- but this is a kick in the gut to anyone who cherishes freedom and liberty.
Every day is like watching the iceberg and the Titanic on their inevitable course. I would like to be prepared- but it’s really hard to know what it’s going to look like when it finally hits.
Morning, doll.
thanks!
Enjoy your Christmas and wishes for a Healthy and Prosperous for you and yours!

Nelson disclosed his decision as Majority leader Harry Reid unveiled a final series of changes to the measure, including concessions to Nelson on abortion, funding for his state and more.
The legislation includes new limits designed to limit insurance company profits and overhead, by requiring them to spend 80 percent of their premium income on medical care for individual insurance policies, and 85 percent for group policies.
On abortion, the measure would let states disallow coverage in new insurance exchanges.
I agree. How could Obamacare be over possibly? It seems quite difficult to believe. :)
When I talked with Webb’s office, they directed me to his oped.
Apparently, he on board, but I’m not certain.
Like Nelson, Webb is up for reelection in 2012.
The junior senators, like Warner of VA were unhappy because they have been shut out of the process, but I doubt they’re unhappy enough to buck the party.
Reid has not received the CBO’s price tag and that may prove to be our last hope.
I’m sick and enraged.
This whole ordeal has literally ruined Christmas.
I hate them all.
I told the priest last week, that it is impossible to remove the hatred from my heart that I hold for Obama and his party.
Hey sweetie:) Been keeping odd working hours- miss my buds in the Levin Lounge.
Isn’t this a mess?
I feel sick to honest.
Thank you, you’ve very kind.
Welcome to Free Republic and I hope you have a Blessed and Merry Christmas!
Don’t be a stranger around here.
Agreed, the House fight will be interesting.
So, is the priest just another "social justice" democrat?
Thank you, God, for trying.
