The govenrment said that the number of people receiving regular benefits rose by 5,000 to 5.19 million for the week ending Dec. 5. That figure does not include millions of people who have used up the regular 26 weeks of benefits typically provided by the state and are now receiving extended benefits for up to 73 additional weeks, paid for by the federal government.
Two years of unemployment benefits....hmmmm. Do you have to DO anything while you're receiving them? Like prove you're looking for a job.

If I may, you must prove that you are looking for a position. So, yes, you have to be trying to better your lot in life’s lottery.
Merry Christmas.

May sound nice, but some people have ran out of their benefits....and of course you don’t get health insurance etc. through it.

I’ve had to claim unemployment benefits a couple of times due to layoffs. It’s been a while but I recall I had to list names of employers I had contacted, had interviews with.
