The Sahara closed two of its three hotel towers for the winter season because of low demand, but the casino and other amentities will remain open, a property spokeswoman confirmed.

“Two towers of the Sahara Hotel will remain dark based on demand through the holiday winter,” an e-mail statement said late Monday. “Upon further demand, Sahara Hotel will make more rooms available.”

...............................................

Binion’s Gambling Hall & Hotel downtown closed all of its hotel rooms Monday and cut 100 positions. The downtown casino company also blamed the decline in visitor traffic and revenues for the closing.

I was looking at hotels in LV and some amazing deals. The 4 star places, like Mandalay Bay, are below $100 and Bellagio was only around $140. You can get rooms at the new City Center hotels for that price. Hopefully Binion's will survive since that is really an old-school LV place.

Just stayed at The hotel at Mandalay for $ 140 a night . Great, great, city. i had an amazing time and I don't gamble. Brought my wife and 8 yr. old and marveled at the Hoover Dam, grand Canyon, the dinners and the shows.

Oh yeah, I went to the "Gun Store" and bought the coalition package. Fired an M-4, M-249, and a beretta. This may be an average day for most FReepers but I am from Joisey and I need a license for a kitchen knife.

I wonder how all of those union members in Vegas that voted for the O feel now.

How’s that hoax and chains going?

Stay at the Wynn. It's very nice. Great lounge (Parasol Lounge).

I rather do not like the Bellagio - very difficult to get a decent priced meal there.

The Venetian is great (very large standard rooms) and has access to Emril’s ‘Table 9’ reasonably priced and excellent. The pool on the roof of the casino(?) is very peaceful and few know about it - it's mostly for guests of the ‘Towers’ (I think that's what it is called - it's a hotel inside of the Venetian)

Table 9 is also very close to the Wynn.

That’s because the economy has fully recovered fer sher, by golly Miss Molly, happy days are here again! Classic FDR dillusionment.

Ben Burn-yank-me is the Times hero of the year for having saved us from Bush’s economic disaster. It’s all peachy keen roses and pie from here on out, especially after they give us the “Christmas Present” of Nationalized Health Care. That’s just what I have always wanted; To be able to go to the Clinic once a week for a free check-up.

Who needs a nice house, a boat, frequent vacations and a comfortable early retirement anyway? What is important is the collective needs of the Peeple and living a moral Environmentally pure life, free from the evil greed of Capitalism. Fer sher fer sher.

I had the best breakfast of my life at the Venetian.

My husband’s family lives in Vegas. I always remember the holidays and winter season as being their busiest.
