BANGKOK (Reuters) - Weapons seized in Thailand from an impounded plane traveling from North Korea were likely destined for Iran, said a high-ranking Thai government official on a team investigating the arms.

"Some experts believe the weapons may be going to Iran, which has bought arms from North Korea in the past," said the official, quoting Thai government military experts who also took part in an investigation of the weapons.

Speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to talk to the media, he said the Thai investigating team considered Iran a likely destination because of the type of weaponry, including unassembled Taepodong-2 missile parts.

Security analysts have said North Korea's long-range Taepodong-2 is a product of join efforts with Tehran, coinciding with Iran's development of the Shehab-5 and 6 missiles.

Iranian purchasing agents were on hand for the summer launch from Musudan Village, DPRK of the North Koreans' Taepodong-2 ICBM test headed toward Pacific Ocean off of western Hawaii.

They must have made the orders after the successful field test, and even now the disassembled parts shipments are occuring via aircargo shipments, such as the one busted in the Kingdom of Thailand the other day.

The Thailand bust happened only because of an unplanned fuel stop. It would seem that for each flight caught
other must be getting through. A no-fly zone is needed around DPRK.

Yes, exactly. They got through a lot of stuff already no doubt. Just on this one they got busted.

They realized maritime shipping probably doesn't work. Remember that North Korean ship in Asia shadowed in the summer by the US Navy for a week or so, heading to the Middle East with probably WMD or conventional weapons on board? They had to turn back to the port of Wonsan as they realize they could not outrun the US flotilla on its own, nor could they escape big brother in the sky, i.e. KH-11. They are reverting to conventional air cargo shipments. This one was definitely schedule to reach Iran. The route could be DPRK to Iran, Iran then to Venezuela. A 1962 style Cuba could be assembled right in our hemispheric backyard. These international scoundrels are all in together it seems.

Just now I watched the evening news in Teheran, IRINN, and they are playing the Sejjil-2 solid rocket launch every which way to Sunday. They must have had 8 different camera angles on that damned thing today, including sound. It was launched from a desert area, from a mobile launcher. They ran the color launch footage over and over again, including high resolution high altitude of the missile in the stratopshere. They are really sending a message out with this. Lots happening today. North Korea closing down to foreign for one month in order to conduct a big mass purge, the North Korean cargo flight snagged in Bangkok, and now this deadly Iranian missile launch putting Israel, Europe and US bases in the Middle East in the target zone.
