MY TRIBUTE TO RONALD REAGAN

People long for the clear vision, the positive attitude, the faith in God, the faith in America, the free market, and the conservative principles Reagan employed for 8 years that brought us out of the Carter malais and made eveyone proud to be American.

They want that again...and there is only one candidate on the radar screen that may give us a chance to regain it and turn around the Obama nightmare.

Reagan is the one President in recent history that was not merely a political man. He was clearly a principled man who really had a sense of philosophy as far as government in relationship to the people. He unlike the recent crop of many Republicans and nearly all Democrats believed in the American people and the power of liberty and the individual. Instead of strategizing why doesn't the Republican party pick up the mantal of Reagan not just in name or with silly empty talk about "big tent" politics and just support the populist conservative principles that have made this country great. The problem with so many in the Republican leadership is that they don't believe in the principles of liberty and individual sovereignity that Reagan and our founders believed in. They are only slightly different in opinion than the Democrats on the current growth of what is a modern feudalism which is eroding the strength and integrity of the American people.

And Mr. Reagan was the last POTUS we elected who was not an Ivy League graduate.

Funny coincidence, that.

I’ll never forget casting my first ever vote for this man once I turned 18 and graduated high school in 1980. My most satisfying vote ever.

Carter was an absolute disaster for the country. Things were incredibly bad in the late 70’s.

Reagan saved this country from itself.

Over half the population wasn’t alive or cognizant during the Carter administration.

Take note America. You won't hear Obama say this.

"... I did not take the oath I have just taken with the intention of presiding over the dissolution of the world's strongest economy."
~~~ President Ronald Reagan
Interestingly, 19 percent of African-Americans named Republican presidents their favorite (Reagan-9%, Bush 41-5%, Bush 43-5%) with Clinton being selected by 18%.
If true, then the GOP ought to be able to get ~20% of the black vote if we do it right.
Nine percent of African-American voters named Obama as the worst, as did 14% of Democrats.
Interesting, since Obama still has 96% approval among blacks.
Obama 22%. Take the 11% black voters for obama and that leaves 11% of the rest for obama. That’s more like it.
This isn't surprising at all, but the headline ought to be that hated George W. Bush and Obama are neck and neck - statistically even.
(Waxing nostalgic)...
I sure miss that guy.
I look back on the 1980’s as some of the best years of my life so far. Great times with the best friends I’ve ever had, great music, young love, a cool job, very few worries, and the future looked so bright I had to wear shades. (Yes, I know that that song is cynical, but for me it seemed true.) And to top it off, a President that instinctively did the right things and made me feel very proud of my country.
The standard of Reagan was fiercely upheld by Rush Limbaugh against the likes of Newt Gingrinch:
...Newt could have just as easily said here that conservative principles don't change, that the Reagan coalition is simply looking for leadership and that we need to bring more creative policy alternatives to the table than we have in the recent past. But that's not what he said. He said, "The era of Reagan is over. ... It's the end of the Reagan era."
This spat between Rush and Newt is simply ridiculous.
Look around you, does anybody can say that we live in the Reagan era? Or that Bush-43 were the Reagan era, or Clinton years, or Bush-41 were the eras of Reagan?
When Newt said on Rush's show that the era of Reagan is over it was exactly that, a statement of fact. He never said or implied that Reagan's principles or ideas are over, as he was for a long time about the only Reagan's flag carrier since Ronaldus Magnus left the office. It haven't been either of Bushes or McCain, Giuliani, Huckabee et al. Rush would not even let Newt finish his sentence... It was the strangest miscommunication I've heard on Rush's show.
The Reagan era left with him, his principles and ideas and good works live with us.
