FROM A SHOPPER: This happened at Wal-Mart (Supercenter Store #1279, 10411 N Freeway 45, Houston, TX 77037) a month ago. I bought a bunch of stuff, over $150 worth, and I glanced at my receipt as the cashier was handing me the bags. I saw a cash-back of $40. I told her I didn't request cash-back, and to delete it. She said I'd have to take the $40, because she couldn't delete it.
I told her to call a supervisor. The supervisor came, and said I'd have to take it. I said NO! Taking the $40 would be a cash advance against my Discover card, and I wasn't going to pay interest on a cash advance!!!!! If they couldn't delete it, then they would have to delete my whole order. So the supervisor had the cashier delete the whole order and re-scan everything. This second time around I looked at the electronic pad before I signed, and an unwanted cash-back of $20 popped up. At that point I told the cashier, and she deleted it. The total came out right.
The cashier agreed that the electronic pad must be defective. However, it was obvious that the cashier already knew that the electronic pad was defective because the first time around, although the $40 cash back showed up on the receipt, she kept quiet and NEVER offered me the money, like she should have! She intended to pocket my $40.
Can you imagine how many people went through before me, and at the end of her shift how much money she pocketed?
Few employers plan to ramp up hiring early next year, two surveys show evidence that the economic recovery isn't likely to create many jobs anytime soon.

Obama Calls for More Leverage and More Debt On Path Towards Financial Ruin !!!
The title says it all !!!
Yes but I want people to be warned about the cash back that results in quite a fee on their credit cards.
I can’t imagine that a Wal-Mart employee intended to deceive you and filch customers’ money.
Oh wait, each Wal-Mart, as my mother says, is like a small dysfunctional country riddled with corruption.
Wal-Mart is much like the federal government. Neither are ever going out of business, so accountability standards are in the same place—the toilet.
***I saw a cash-back of $40.***
Walmart only allows cash back of $20 dollars.
Walmart allow cash back more than that unless if they had changed that.
I’ve been getting that email for three or four years...
Oh sorry I didn’t know that just saw the article never shop there.
The most common form of theft in retail and restaurants, adding sales tax when it is not called for. A semi-large restaurant chain in WA state, has a practice of adding sales tax to beer and liquor sales in the lounge. When you call them on it, you will begin an argument that goes on into Spanish...hint hint. It is legal and necessary to charge sales tax in a seated restaurant, but if you sit at a booth in the bar, it is not. Think of difference if you sat at the bar, you order a beer for $3.00, you pay three dollars. Sit at a booth next to the bar, you pay $3.25. There is no getting through to the bar, and if you call the state DOR, they acknowledge the charges are improper, but after 10 years of it happening, they have not changed it. I know of this personally, because a G/F of mine works there....they simply make an .08%+ extra in profit in the bar than they report, and being minorities they get away with it. Of course this is in the state that refuses to tax the tribal casinos, does not allow gambling machines in off reservation bars, allows smoking on reservation, allows them to sell retail items and add sales tax but not give it to the state, and charge gasoline tax without authority, and keep it for “tribal roads”.....like they have roads not paid for by the state or the feds.
I didn’t know that good info. thanks. They do the same thing for the Indian reservations in Minn. and WI too.
The people in Norway had a great idea. When Obama didn’t show up to several events; they put a card board cutout up of him.
Can we do the same?
I always shop at Walmart in their 24/7 superstore in Palmdale, Calif. I certainly agree the guy is ruining the economy but I don’t think this $40 cash back is true. Walmart customer service infrastructure is one of the best in the world.
I was hoping they would keep him but no such luck.
Thanks Bill.
LOL No one wants him. They think America deserves him as punishment for whatever.
I was alerted to this via a friends e mail 2 months ago. It is time to wake up from that slumber and get involved America, your elected officials are doing the same but on a bigger scale, but you won’t know this because your still watching MSNBC, CNN AND NBC for all the news thats NOT! If your pissed that you got shorted a few bucks wait until you wake up one morning to a country you don’t recognize. Make 2010 resolution now. Get involved, get ready, give em hell!
My daughter works for one of our very large and crooked banks and she says that many waiters and waitresses in this town frequently add an extra tip for themselves when running your credit/debit card. The bank finds out about it when customers call to dispute the charge. Having read Snopes’ laughable rebuttal to this situation, I am doubting their ability to investigate anything. Since when did a camera ever stop a crooked employee? Yes your receipt is going to say $ cash back but they are counting on you never looking and throwing that piece of paper away.
