BEIJING The special U.S. envoy to North Korea said Saturday that no plans have been made for more direct talks with the reclusive communist nation, and that all parties in the effort to end the standoff over its nuclear program should exercise "strategic patience" for now.
Stephen Bosworth was in Beijing to brief Chinese officials on his three days of meetings with North Korean officials this past week, which he called "very businesslike, very candid, forward-looking." But he said how and when stalled six-nation negotiations on the North's nuclear disarmament would resume is yet to be resolved.
"This may be the time to exercise strategic patience," Bosworth told reporters. "Everyone, including North Korea, may need to sit quietly for a bit and see what happens."
North Korea said Friday it understands the need to resume the nuclear negotiations and would work with Washington to resolve remaining "differences," but analysts said it was too early to declare Bosworth's mission a success. North Korea walked away from the talks earlier this year in anger over international criticism of its ambitions to develop long-range rocket technology, vowing never to return.

In other words, Obama is a puss.
My beeber is utterly stuned by this shocking revelation. /sarcasm
Bosworth is a maroon.
With N. Korea on the verge of insurrection due to the devaluation of its currency, how long do you think it will take Obama to bail them out financially?
Strategic Patience = Voting ‘Present’
At the National War College, the assignment should be: “Class, compare and contrast Mr. Bosworth in 2009 to Neville Chamberlain in 1938.”
yup I agree now is the time for patience.
With Iran, Pakistan, Libya and N Korea collaborating on nuclear missiles it is just a function of time, very little time before they attack the free world. Patience will allow them to accomplish their goals.
We need to see the fruits of their endeavors, right Mr. occupant of the big white house?
“Snivel Chamberlain”
Being a race baiting, street level communist pimp and liar from Chicago, that doesn't seem so bad.
“Strategic patience”?
Is that libtard Chamberlinian language or what?
Whether a (D) or an (R), who ever coined that should have his/her arse kicked. We have had “strategic patience” with NK going on how long now? BS.
Thanks rdl6989.
Barack Hussein Neville Chamberlain
Come on, folks. We have to give the administration some time and leeway to get their ducks in a row on this in order to deal with North Korea effectively.
It takes time to get preliminary contracts drawn up to give them nuclear reactors or tankers full of oil.
Or maybe we will just print a bunch of worthless greenbacks to give them to buy whatever they want to. Oh, never mind. They have already been printing those in North Korea for decades now.
Or maybe Obama and his wife will go over there, bow 90 degrees at the waist and kiss their North Korean asses.
Such insanity is a prelude to WWIII. The World is upside down. Enjoy your life; your family; your friends; your liberties while you can. If the World doesn't self-destruct within the next 5-7 years, it surely realize a One World Government that will eventually enslave us all.
I'm so glad I'm looking at my twilight, but fear for my children.
Give me John Bolton or give me death
The whole point of the six party talks was to hang China with responsibility for keeping Crazy Kim in check. But Zero and crew have let China totally off the hook, and Crazy Kim as well. Zero continues the form of the policy, now without point and without substance.
Stay on autopilot long enough and eventually you'll fly into a mountain. But, OTOH, every time Zero messes with the controls, he flies the policy straight into the ground.
We are so screwed.
I constantly strive to lower my expectations of diplomats, to stay in synch with reality, but sometimes I just can't keep up.
If "everyone sits quietly for a bit" just what do you guys at State think will "happen?" Nothing will happen. Of course the chances of either China or NoKorea "sitting quietly" are pretty slim. So I suppose the whole idea is moot.
