But the LDS don’t get the Holy Spirit until after they are baptized.

The “other comforter” is the Holy Spirit, but it comes by faith. And the Holy Spirit does not leave the believer, but the LDS teaches He CAN leave if the person isn’t “worthy”.

Also, notice that faith comes BEFORE works, not the other way around. Christians do good works BECAUSE we have faith, not in order to have faith or be “worthy”.

Once again, LDS twisting scripture. *sigh*

And it still doesn’t mean that it was the HOLY GHOST that witnessed to you.

There is a VERY big difference between what the LDS think is the Holy Ghost, and what having the Holy Ghost really feels like. I have been on both sides of that one, and I would NEVER EVER go back to being LDS.

Actually having the Holy Spirit indwelling, is so much better than the “burning in the bosom” the LDS claim.

Hmmmm, doesn't follow the pattern of the bible now does it -

Act 109:44* While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
45* And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
46* For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
47* Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

My here in the bible, it was Holy Spirit BEFORE baptism.

****

As an former member I thought you understood this!

The Holy Ghost is manifested to men on the earth both as the power of the Holy Ghost and as the gift of the Holy Ghost.

The power can come upon one before baptism, and is the convincing witness that the gospel is true. It gives one a testimony of Jesus Christ and of his work and the work of his servants upon the earth.

The gift can come only after proper and authorized baptism, and is conferred by the laying on of hands, as in Acts 8: 12-25 and Moroni 2: 1-3.

The gift of the Holy Ghost is the right to have, whenever one is worthy, the companionship of the Holy Ghost.

More powerful than that which is available before baptism, it acts as a cleansing agent to purify a person and sanctify him from all sin. Thus it is often spoken of as “fire” (Matt. 3: 11; 2 Ne. 31: 17; D&C 19: 31).
