If you reject the continuing role of the Holy spirit and the guidance of those the Holy Spirit has guided and rely only on verse subject to misinterpretation and manipulation by fallible men then you walk in darkness. Remember it was the same Holy Spirit that guided the same institution to produce the bible as you now know it. To undermine the process is to undermine the product.
