McDonald's Corp. will start offering breakfast for a buck with the launch of a national dollar menu in January.
The breakfast dollar menu will be backed with advertising across the U.S., and will feature five items: two sausage sandwiches, a sausage burrito, a 12-ounce coffee and a hash brown. The menu may feature some variations based on markets.

Of course we have friendly Maine locals running the place.
They are making it up big time by hiking prices on the lunch time meals and so called “value meals”. I paid nearly 8 bucks for a Big Mac and small shake the other day.
There are friendly people in Maine? I built cellular in Bangor back in the late 80's and spent about four months there. Those were some of the rudest people I've ever encountered and I've worked in 49 states and 16 countries worldwide.....

Depends on the McDonalds. There’s one in Georgetown on I-35 where they’ll make a fresh pot in a second and it’s good, Folger’s tasting coffee. Nothing fancy like Starbucks, but good stuff. The ones in my area will scrape it out of the bottom of the pot.
Breakfasts aren’t too bad at Micky D’s, but I just don’t like the muffins. They sit like lead in the stomach an hour later. Wish they would substitute croissants instead. Sometimes the scrambled eggs are OK, but other times they taste rubbery and artificial. I do like the fish sandwiches with extra tartar sauce. Drinks are way too big and too expensive.
I like the breakfast burrito and hash brown. A lot healthier without the hash brown, but I’m willing to run and extra 20 min. for it.
There are things on their breakfast menu that are great for those watching calories, etc. The egg mcmuffin has 300 calories, a perfect breakfast fill up. As with all fast food, however, its the sodium levels that ruin everything.
Hasn’t IKEA been doing it for a long time?

Although they haven't done much in terms of innovation lately, McD's pioneered the basic layout of the fast food restaurant, the breakfast menu, the style of the fry holder, self-serve drinks, the dollar menu, and of course, the whole chicken strip-McNugget thing.
Almost all of the national chains are based on the McDonald's model.
Now with 10% more Soylent Green than before.
$1 8 english muffins
$1-2 1 lb sausage
$1 1 dozen eggs
This is shopping at Aldi, but I find similiar sale prices at the grocer occasionaly. This gives you 8 sausage and egg mcmuffins, plus a good sized omelette for $3-$4.

Mainers - especially "natives" that you'll find north of Lewiston/Portland - are a special breed of cat. You'll not find a more generous or giving bunch of people anywhere. They're also the most genuine bunch of people that you'll find, anywhere. If you find a Mainer that says "Hey, I'm glad to see you" ....it means that, really, they're glad to see you. If one calls you "A Friend", then you've got a friend for life.
You'll also not find a more standoffish or churlish bunch of people, either. The general social rule is "Don't speak unless you're spoken to". Once you get used to it, or understand it, the directness is rather refreshing, I think. I've been in many places (usu in the South) where - with all of the pleasantries and small talk - it might take 10 minutes to say "Hello" or just order a cup of coffee. Never mind if you might actually *want* something, for instance, at work from an employee.
When I moved from Maine to the South, the biggest thing that took getting used to, was the fact that people just come up to you and start talking. Made me want to check my wallet, or wonder what their agenda was, until I got used to it and realized that it was just the locals being polite.
