The continuing loss of support for Barack Obama has produced a budding groundswell for his impeachment, according to a poll released yesterday by Public Policy Polling.
Even though impeachment is not a major topic in political discourse on the Internet, talk radio or cable news shows, the public's growing revulsion with Obama has caused twenty percent of the electorate to want to see him removed from office not even a full year in to his term as president, with another thirteen percent open to the idea.
The poll also showed that forty-four percent would rather have former President George W. Bush back in office now instead of Obama.
Broken down by party, thirty-five percent of Republicans want Obama impeached, as do fifteen percent of independents.
Obama even has ten percent of Democrats wanting him impeached.
To add insult to injury, only forty-seven percent of those surveyed would admit to voting for Obama out of fifty-three percent who voted for him last year.
Five percent of admitted Obama voters want him impeached.
PPP's Tom Jensen doesn't say why they asked the impeachment question, but he offered this condescending comment at the group's blog:
I'm not clear exactly what 'high crimes and misdemeanors' they are using to justify that position but there may be a certain segment of voters on both the right and the left these days that simply think the President doing things they don't agree with is grounds for removal from office. I don't think Obama has a lot to worry about on that front.
Jensen left out treason and bribery as grounds for impeachment.
For starters, a case for treason is being made here. More grounds are surely to be found without much effort.

You are exactly right, the whole Congress the present group of affirmative action pukes, tax cheats, loony toon 60’s “leaders” with drug fried brains raised on flower power.
Get rid of all of them and a taste of jail time for all.
Would help if we could just kick CA, MASS and IL out of the Union or not allow any furthur imput they have already done enough to cripple the rest of us.
Why you dirty right wing extremest. Your just saying that because your a racist I bet. (sacrsm)
While I agree with the sentiment, we must approach this man with caution. In 94 the pubbies when they took over went right after Clinton with a vengeance. In doing so Newt and the boys made some serious tactical blunder and the dems gained seat back in 96 although failed to take back either house. They also handed Clinton his second term. I feel in hindsight that they should have kept their powder dry in 95 and let Clinton flail away. Although it is possible to take back the house, it may take 2 elections to reduce the Dems to minority status in the senate. I want the public to put Obama out of office and not go through the impeachment process. We need 2 blowouts one to neuter Obama and then turn him out. I just hope it won’t be too late. We will need a veto and filibuster proof majority to reverse hearlthcare and Cap and Trade if enacted regardless of it unpopularity. The dems are in banzai mode and will fight to the last man over this stuff.
You forgot to include "keel-hauling."
Are you flippin’ nuts?
Take your seditious rhetoric elsewhere. We’re not at that stage yet.
Hell, if we are gonna impeach Obama, let’s just go down the list...
Congress critters
and all Judicial appointments from Carter, Clinton and Obama administrations (including Breyer, Ginsberg, Stevens and Sotomayor.) Replace them with solid constitutionalist.
And if those removed want to make a stink about it, revoke their citizenship and deport them, they are not here to uphold the Constitution.
:) - I was waiting for someone to play the race card like Harry Reid?? :)
Hey, don't kick all of us Californians out because of two large and screwed up cities and their surrounding areas. There are a lot of good conservative parts of this state too.
Restructure our state and THEN kick out North and South California. Keep Central California as part of the Union!
Forget the impeachment business - that’s merely a slap on the wrist (which didn’t hurt Clinton, I might add) - which, given the current Democrate-controlled Congress and media, would never happen.
Talk about Removal From Office instead. When there are enough votes in the Senate for that, then impeachmnet is a forgone conclusion.
Then tip your hat to President Joe Biden, or President Pelosi. Take your pick of poisons.
with the ditching of Public Option and Card Check, plus the decision to surge troops in Afghanistan, I am thinking those Democrat numbers may overtake us soon
of course his defense can be summed-up in four words...
VICE PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN
Impeachment? Ha! Firing squad.
I agree, Biden would be much safer and entertaining prospects. With Obama we will lose our country for sure and we may lose our lives. Obama hates this country and he hates Americans.
..Martinez answered in a convoluted way that the voters vetted Obama during the election by selecting him in full knowledge of what his credentials were and werent...
The problem is because of the Democratic party, the Republican party, the judiciary, and the media, the voters did not have full knowledge of his credentials.
If you think impeachment will work or stop this communist agenda, YOU’RE NUTS I’m just telling you what I believe is the only alternative to stopping the destruction of this country. I guess Adams, and Franklin, and Paine, etc., were nuts also?
No. There is a time and a place for rebellion. Rebellion is acceptable when it is waged against a government that has proven itself beyond all doubt to be illegitimate.
Illegitimacy in our case requires a true Constitutional crisis. We're not there yet. Obama may very well be an illegitimate president but that has not been proven beyond all doubt yet - there are only well-placed suspicions.
You can hate the direction our government is headed all you want but until you are able to prove beyond all reasonable doubt that our government is truly illegitimate, all calls for rebellion or a coup are the very definition of sedition and ought to be opposed rigorously.
Mel was making a lazy argument more than anything else (he was on “short time”) and I don’t happen to agree with him.
However, I believe that the line of thinking that he expressed is what is behind some of the laxness that we’ve seen on the part of out “exemplary” officials, though politics, fear, and simple apathy has plenty to do with it as well.
