Why is no one screaming about “welfare” to the “too big to fail” corporations? I rather give breaks to low-paid American workers than rich fat cats on Wall Street.

Conservativegreatgrandma: “The short answer is YES, I will vote for any Republican running against any Dimocrat in a GENERAL election.”

KentTrappedInLiberalSeattle: “... regardless (as already conclusively established) of how liberal, socialist or even unappologetically Marxist they may happen to be so far as legalized infanticide; wholesale and unconditional amnesty for tens of millions of illegal immigrants; or punitive, crippling tax rates, to name but three immediate issues, are concerned.”
++++++++++++++

We need to drive the Republicans away from these RINO/RAT positions. Clearly. We must be willing to vote against RINOs in both the primaries and the generals, however, given a sickening choice between a RINO and a RAT, I would prefer the RINO, but only after browbeating them for 6 to 12 months in the election process to move right (and they will move right) and for the next 2 to 6 years after the election.

Really though, the heavy lifting needs to happen in the precincts, county and state GOP meetings. If we take back the GOP at those levels, we won’t have these stupid, excruciating choices, nearly as much.

Are we ready to ACT?

Acutally better than your “I don’t know” how to achieve electoral success. How’s that socialism working out for you? You ready to fight for the soul of this nation?

I am.

Interesting that so many respondents latched right onto this concept and it somewhat answers the Dem machine rallying cry that the repub party is going extinct.

WHOA. Are you saying that the Conservatives in both the Democratic & Republican parties, along with the Independents who see themselves as Conservative, MIGHT actually have enough of a voting block and CAMPAIGN MONEY to spin off a SUCCESSFUL Third Party?

Let me elaborate ...

UPFRONT, let me say I think it's WISER to instigate a HOSTILE TAKEOVER of the GOP. Actually, I think that's happening at this very moment. Steele and the RNC see the Tea Partiers as an ally — a point on which I believe they are sorely mistaken!

Party recognition DOES has its merits. Looking back at the 2004 and 2008 RNC Platforms, the problem has NOT been with the Platform, but the CANDIDATES that rise up for election, AS A RESULT of sabotage and support of those RINO Candidates from the Left and the MSM.

However, a THIRD PARTY does NOT necessarily guaranty Obama's re-election, as even Rush suggests.

ross perot chart 1
Some might point to Ross Perot as an example of the FOLLY behind a Third Party. HOWEVER, looking back at the PEROT platform, and comparing common-sense strategies to his progressive causes, it's easy to see that Perot was a *LIBERAL* populist that rallied RINOs voters, garnering nearly 20% of the popular vote in 1996, but NONE of the Electoral Vote.

Perot had some GOOD ideas, like
(from http://www.ontheissues.org/Ross_Perot.htm):

* Lack of Balanced Budget Amendment caused dollar’s decline. (Jul 1996)
* Solving welfare by work will reduce crime. (Jul 1996)
* Supported 50-cent gas tax to pay off deficit. (Jul 1996)
* Reduce the growth rate of federal government. (Jul 1996)
* Drug traffickers will take advantage of open Mexican border. (Jan 1993)
* Tax incentives to encourage corporate & personal savings. (Jul 1996)

HOWEVER, Perot's LIBERAL ideas FAR OUTWEIGHED any fiscal conservatism:

* Abortion is a woman’s choice, including federal funding. (Jul 1992)
* Place disadvantaged kids in government-funded homes. (Nov 1992)
* No right to own machine guns. (Jul 1996)
* Enact strict gun control laws. (Nov 1992)
* Massive redistribution from wealthy to poor. (Nov 1992)
* Electronic Town Hall to replace representative government. (Nov 1992)
* Attack AIDS at every level: more education, more research. (Jul 1992)

I cannot see a scenario where even RINO voters would support Democrats in 2010, or Obama in 2012! That seems too remote at this juncture. For that reason alone, I see a Third Party as viable, especially when considering the UTTER disgust and contempt that Conservatives from ALL parties have for Obama and anyone riding his coattails.

IF Palin were to run as a Third Party candidate — which I'm NOT entirely sure she would — she would most-certainly be a
Common-Sense CONSERVATIVE populist.

WITHOUT a doubt.

The conservative party does not..repeat...does not need to purge anything....we are the GOP in very large numbers. We can accept Republicans as we see fit. They can merge with us at our digression.

Are you talking about the AIP, or the Tea Party movement, or...?

Conservatives have the upper hand...they don't need to "purge" anything anymore....they just need to walk in and take back what is theirs for the American people.

Grandma - aren’t you in favor of purging the R party of RINOs? For instance, don’t you support Rubio over Crist?

You betcha I'm in favor of purging the R party of RINOS--as long as it's done in the primaries and this brings me to your next question: I would favor Rubio--hands down!!

People need to act at the local/state level. Otherwise all this talk about conservative purity and purging the RINOs and how bad the Republican leadership is, and even brouhaha about the Tea Party movement is *meaningless.*

I am not willing to surrender--you are.

I might point out that I am a very conservative Republican who has worked in the political field for a very long time.

Republicans MUST gain the majority somewhere in order to stop the utter destruction being done by these Democrats.

I can't make it perfect and neither can you. We must go for the BEST we can get and build on it.

I might point out that right now we have and EXCELLENT core conservative base in DC on which to build.

Never, ever do anything to make it easy for a Democrat to gain elected office.

Look at Minnesota and the havoc those 3000 "third party" voters have wrought.

The rules of the election process—written by Republicans and Democrats--provide substantial advantages for the two established major parties. The more conventional route in the United States is for a potential third-party force to overtake one of the existing parties.

That's why the Conservatives are going to take back the Republican party. Or at least they better or we're cooked.
