As important as the outcome of this case is the precedent it could set for extending special treatment to Muslim employees to the exclusion of others -- essentially creating a second class of employees: workplace dhimmis.
Can’t the wierdo mooslims pray while working. What a concept.
I am glad some people are speaking up. At a public high school in Brooklyn, New York the Muslim students are permitted to have prayer breaks. Christian and Jewish students aren’t even allowed to say Merry Christmas of Happy Chanunka on school grounds.
Someone should demand their 45 minutes be right after the lunch hour so as to get in a couple hours of paid soap opera watching. It's only fair.
We are currently living in Stage three.
Stage 1:
Start immigrating - move into a country quietly
Stage 2:
Begin starting mosques: learning centers community helps: food etc.
Stage 3:
Political activism: demanding rights, denounce derogatory comments/press etc.
Stage 4:
Get elected, pass laws favoring rights etc. move toward political majority
Stage 5:
Political control, Sharia Law
Before they can pray, they have to wash their feet!! I don’t even want to think about why.
Boycott Hertz Corporation AND their parent company Daimler AG.
Sounds like a good time to round them up, or at least have a CIA monitored surveillance camera and microphone in the prayer room.
“I am glad some people are speaking up. At a public high school in Brooklyn, New York the Muslim students are permitted to have prayer breaks. Christian and Jewish students arent even allowed to say Merry Christmas of Happy Chanunka on school grounds.”
Yeah, how about that?
I’d say we were well past Stage 3 and smack in the middle of Stage 4.
Sounds like a violation of their Constitutional rights...First Amendment:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...
Plus...
>>Freedom of expression consists of the rights to freedom of speech, press, assembly and to petition the government for a redress of grievances, and the implied rights of association and belief.
The Supreme Court interprets the extent of the protection afforded to these rights. The First Amendment has been interpreted by the Court as applying to the entire federal government even though it is only expressly applicable to Congress. <<
I disagree with on the last part of your statement. At least in some schools.
“Christian and Jewish students arent even allowed to say Merry Christmas of Happy Chanunka on school grounds.”
You can walk into PS177 in Brooklyn and see for yourself when referring to nyc public schools what takes place and what decorations they currently have displayed.
non smokers have been complaining about this for years, well at least since smoking inside was banned. I used to work with a group of smokers who would take a smoke break every hour, which worked up to about an hour per day. They even made the claim that they were more productive in less time because they were permitted to get away from their desk - which does make sense. Us non smokers tried that logic and were quickly told to get back to work.
Because practicing Muslums are required to pray as specific intervals each day, Hertz has to provide at least some reasonble accomodations.
The same would apply to Jews working on Sabbath or after sundown on Friday or to Seventh Day Adventist working on Saturday.
People better wake up to this 3rd world savage cult.
It’s kind of funny. I work with a bunch of Muslims and none of them pray. The only accommodation they make for their religion is that they don’t eat pork and they fast at Ramadan. They also handle their own dead at the funeral home.
Religious muslims are viewed suspiciously by the muslim students. The only women wearing any type of covering are married women. Single women dress just like all the other women.
Note: Iranian women are hot.
My religion requires me to take Wednesday afternoons off to play golf, but my company has yet to provide me with that accommodation.
Used to work for Dell in Austin, before my job went to Mumbai without me.
Dell got into a bunch of worry because they were giving Mussies prayer breaks on the manufacturing floor; while non-Mussies had to stay at work, and work harder to keep the floor moving smoothly while the Mussies took their prayer breaks. Now, being a Texan my feelings are simple. Work, or get fired. Not sure how that all worked out.
But it certainly seems that there is a protected class, Mussies get breaks no one else is qualified to take. They can say anything to us, but if we so much as look funny at one of them, it’s a trip to HR and a warning.
They can demand concessions be made to accomodate their religion, and we are forbidden from saying “Merry Christmas”
So it seems. WTF is going on?
