Lugging blankets, sleeping bags and folding chairs, supporters began camping out in front of Hastings Books in Norman by mid-afternoon, settling in for a night that threatened temperatures in the 20s and only a slight relief from winds. It’s all to make sure they get the former vice presidential candidate’s autograph today on their copies of "Going Rogue.”

The signings will begin at 7 p.m.

What other leader, democrat or republican, inspires this much devotion and loyalty, that people would line up and stand for hours and hours in temps in the 20's? I doubt if too many people would do this even for The Once.

It’s good to see a strong pro-life politician who cares about the pre-born to senior citizens.

It’s refreshing.

Palin Book Signing
4:45am - Arrived at Hastings in Norman. The first person in line has been
here since 3:30pm Wednesday afternoon. He says people started lining up
right after he got there. Many people are here in tents. The line has now
stretched around the entire shopping complex. Hastings was nice enough to
open its cafe so people had a warm place to go. I talked with one woman who
drove up from Fort Worth. Also talked with a high school freshman from
Crescent, OK who is taking the day off school to meet Sarah Palin. Tune
into Eyewitness News Five in the Mornng for live reports

Anyone who inspires people to risk frostbite just so they could spend a few seconds and get a book signed, and draws maximum capacity crowds everywhere she goes has to be taken seriously. You can bet that a lot of midnight oil is being burned by Axelrod and others in the White House War Room to come up with a way to derail this force of nature.

If she could inspire voters to do this at the polls she could win.

You beat me to that post - Heck I don’t think Pres Reagan had people waiting overnight to see him. There are some rock stars and some Apple products that get this type of loyalty but not anybody in politics.

It was a really cold night, too. We get a lot of wind here, driving those cold temperatures right through to the bone.
