A congressional hearing that was supposed to be a routine recap of global-warming science Wednesday turned into a fracas involving e-mails stolen from some prominent climate scientists.
The e-mails were stolen from the University of East Anglia in Britain, from one of the three labs in the world that constructs global temperature records. The private exchanges have become a goldmine for skeptics who argue that global warming is a plot rather than a real man-made problem.
At Wednesday's hearing before a House select committee, Rep. James Sensenbrenner (R-WI) called for an investigation of the e-mails. He said at best, official reports about global warming will now need to be reviewed.
"At worst, it's junk science and it's part of a massive international scientific fraud," he said. And not just fraud: "There's increasing evidence of scientific fascism that's going on. And I think, as policymakers who are making decisions about the state of the American economy for the next several generations, we ought to have accurate science."
President Obama's top science adviser, John Holdren, agreed that the e-mails should be thoroughly investigated. At issue is whether they provide evidence of scientific malfeasance, or just bad manners.

Note to state run media........the train is leaving the station........
Did they mention they were stolen. /s
Does anyone know if this is the first NPR mention of Climategate?
At issue is whether they provide evidence of scientific malfeasance, or just bad manners.”
I find this statement suspect. Based on what we’ve read so far, is there any question of malfeasance? Is it possible that facist warmers are going to find some way to discount this as “bad manners”? The media black out is certainly buying them the time they need to come up with an argument, isn’t it.

Condescending punk.
“involving e-mails stolen from some prominent climate scientists”
Prove it you ba$tard$.
Not a tenth of the Ruckus they ought to be causing IMHO!
/s acknowledged. They Did, and they were not! The source of these emails is a whistle blower, not a thief or a hacker.
Rep. James Sensenbrenner (R-WI)
Sounds like a good guy. Not just a run-of-the-mill hack.
These were not private, personal email accounts. They were accounts having to do with their "research"--and I use that term advisedly now. Since these accounts were associated with their publicly-funded research, the accounts are subject to FOI. These swindlers had been stalling legit FOI for ages, some of the emails even talk about deleting these emails if FOI kicked in, which is a violation of the law. To even discuss doing such a thing is probably also against the law--conspiracy to destroy evidence.--
Notice none of them have even hinted that they'd take legal action.
For those on facebook, consider demanding an investigation into the CRUminals.

Don't ya just hate when that happens?
All they wanted to do was ram-rod another astronomically high tax increase up the a$$es of the American people and they got confronted with a gall darn fracas.
It just ain't fair, I tell you. Just ain't fair.
I’m thinking that these weren’t hacked, but that it had to be insider or a very well-connected hacker indeed. How would the hacker know what to hack, and how to hack this?
President Obama’s top science adviser, John Holdren, agreed that the e-mails should be thoroughly investigated. At issue is whether they provide evidence of scientific malfeasance, or just bad manners.
Hodren is involved as well as most of this administration and congress. YOU ALL LIE! Call for prosecutions!
NPR seems to be playing up the fact that these are leaks...as in “stolen”, even though they are not private under the Freedom of Information Act.
NPR= No Progress under Reagan
