Nelson Sponsoring Stupak Amdt to Cut Abortion in Senate Health Bill

Washington, DC -- Sen. Ben Nelson, a pro-life Democrat from Nebraska, confirmed today that he is working on an amendment to the Senate version of the government-run health care bill that would remove abortion funding from it. He said the amendment would be similar to language adopted in the House.

As mentioned upthread, it’s a fig leaf. Reid will allow those endangered ‘10 incumbent Senate candidates who need to vote for the amendment. The ultimate goal is to get a national healthcare package, even if it has “offensive’ amendments, like Stupek or Nelson propose. They will plan to take it out down the line after the primary goal is achieved and national healthcare established.

Having said all this, Stupak comes from a district where a Reagan Republican could be elected. He is a 20% conservative guy when we could have a 100% conservative.

True. I'm not calling for his re-election, nor opposing it. It depends on who runs against him.

If he runs against a deceptive camouflage-pro-abort RINO --- well, that would make a difference. And that would be a tempting strategy for the RINO leadership of the RNC if the femidemons destroy Stupak, would it not?

Well it sounds as though you have the same problems that conservatives in NH often have. I think the leadership in the party needs to recruit a good candidate and get behind him.

Any way we can dissolve the present Republican Party and elect another one?

You can get involved with the GOP and influence it at the local level. You would be surprised at what one vocal person can do.

The content of any federal version of health care is irrelevant because they are unconstitutional on their face since Article 1 Section 8 does not expressly nor specifically grant Congress the power to regulate health care.

BUMP!...and check out the link at post #28.
