A factor which was known by his judge and or jury when they considered his case and threw the book at him, yet Huckabee acts as if it is some mitigating aspect hidden to all but himself.

Not true at all.

Gov Huckabee did not release the man suspected of killing 4 law enforcement officers. He commuted the suspect’s sentence in 2000 from 108 years to 47 years in prison. With a sentence of 47 years, an intervening party - a parole board - could decide whether he should be paroled or not. Huckabee did NOT set him free and did not parole him - but merely made it possible for him to be reviewed by others to make that decision. The now cop killer suspect was reviewed and paroled. He then violated parole. He was returned to prison in 2004. Some time later (I am not yet sure why), he was again paroled.
