One part of this that was troubling to me, is that Huckabee only gave 31 days for the authorities to level an objection to the clemency. This was a fairly heavyweight individual to extend clemency to, in what seems like somewhat of a hurry to me.
The proof is in the pudding too. The guy obviously had serious judgment problems. They resurfaced as soon as he was let out on the streets. That being the case, why wasn’t the convict forced to serve his full terms?
There seems to have been a terrible lack of good judgment and due process here.
Huckabee is also claiming here were no objections to the clemency petition. Yet, it is being reported the original sentencing judge and prosecutor did object to Clemmons release. Reuters, AP and I believe the Seattle Examiner had that report as of yesterday.
