The great climate change science scandal (Times UK)
Timesonline ^ | 11/29/2009 | Jonathan Leake

Posted on 11/29/2009 9:29:46 AM PST by GVnana

The storm began with just four cryptic words. “A miracle has happened,” announced a contributor to Climate Audit, a website devoted to criticising the science of climate change.

“RC” said nothing more — but included a web link that took anyone who clicked on it to another site, Real Climate.

There, on the morning of November 17, they found a treasure trove: a thousand or so emails sent or received by Professor Phil Jones, director of the climatic research unit at the University of East Anglia in Norwich.

Jones is a key player in the science of climate change. His department’s databases on global temperature changes and its measurements have been crucial in building the case for global warming.

\ What those emails suggested, however, was that Jones and some colleagues may have become so convinced of their case that they crossed the line from objective research into active campaigning.

In one, Jones boasted of using statistical “tricks” to obliterate apparent declines in global temperature. In another he advocated deleting data rather than handing them to climate sceptics. And in a third he proposed organised boycotts of journals that had the temerity to publish papers that undermined the message.

These frauds have attempted to form the justification for global government -- and they nearly got away with it.

Phil Jones, you’ve won your place in the history of science. Congratulations.

The British people are being made aware of the scam. No doubt the Russians and Chinese people are getting the news, but we still aren’t hearing much from the post-American, state media. “Free press” to our state media means freedom to do as the leftist powers dictate. I’ll be glad when all the state media goes on federal life support. Then the gig will be up, and all but the saddest of dupes will know where their news comes from.

i’m not counting them out just yet.

there is more...much more...to the thought of using AGW (now refered to as climate change) as the excuse for politicians to build a all controlling aparatus.

the jig might be up for the AGW/GCC scientists, but the politicians are still working hard.........

Former Senator and Vice President Al Gore seen here en-route back to prison after a federal appeals court refused to review his 20 year sentence for his lead role as spokesperson in the “Climategate” fraud conspiracy. The same court recently rejected the appeals of the lengthy sentences of the 137 alleged UN “scientists” – Gore’s co-conspirators – for falsifying data supporting so-called Cap and Trade legislation that trial testimony disclosed would have virtually destroyed what remained of the U.S. economy while unjustly enriching Gore and a cabal of insiders.

Phil Jones is the Bernie Madoff of climate science.

"Climate change" is now a trillion dollar industry that will be hard to take apart since so many profit from the racket. Congrats to the hackers or insiders that exposed this scam.

Hopefully his scam collapses around him soon, and he is directly tied to the conspiracy.

At least it will shut him down, although I think he's one of the privileged untouchables, like Sandy Berger, the Clintons, et al. He will never be charged for anything, he will plead ignorance, and keep right on pretending to be a true believer. There will always be some wallets out there he can lighten.

Good find. The article isn't too bad, but they're not ready to fully fess up. Compare this poll reference in the article:

The public are understandably confused. A recent poll showed that 41% accept as scientific fact that global warming is taking place and is largely man-made, while 32% believe the link is unproven and 15% said the world is not warming.

The poll seems to be this online poll conducted by The Times on November 14, a week before the climategate story broke:

Only 41 per cent accept as an established scientific fact that global warming is taking place and is largely man-made. Almost a third (32 per cent) believe that the link is not yet proved; 8 per cent say that it is environmentalist propaganda to blame man and 15 per cent say that the world is not warming.

From the Comments on the Times Article—

Roger Bingham wrote:
I don’t know. I’m not denying - I just don’t know.

But here’s what I do know.

Planet earth is our home. It’s the only planet yet discovered that can support human life. Surely it goes without saying that we must do everything possible to protect it and ensure the survival of future generations.

So I err on the side of caution. I limit my use of things that burn hydrocarbon fuels or produce greenhouse gases. I eat meat but turn off uneccessary lights and other power consumers. etc etc

If the climate change people are eventually proven right I have been doing my bit to help.

If the deniers are correct I have lost nothing.

I fitted seat belts long before it was required. I wore a motor cycle helmet as a matter of common sense. I stopped smoking when evidence pointed to the damage I was causing myself (and others).

Precautionary conduct - you know it makes sense.

Does this argument sound familiar? It’s the same one used by some Christians for their faith—if the Bible isn’t true, they have still lost nothing
by living according to its precepts. I don’t have a problem with this argument when used by Christians, as a Christian I would use it myself. After all it IS a matter of faith in the end.

But it sounds very strange when used as the basis for a “belief” in a “scientific” theory. Was there ever better proof that AGW (or ACC) is a secular “religion”, allied to Marxism?

So, I guess we’ll have to update the old joke:

Meanie Corp. HR Person: “We’ll hire you if you’ll answer one question. How much is two and two?”

Mathematician: “It depends on what base number system is involved...”

Engineer: “It’ll take some research, but I think I can give you a close approximation...”

Climate Scientist: “What do you WANT the answer to be?”

If the deniers are correct I have lost nothing.

It isn't just his own sacrifices he lists, it is the coerced sacrifices of hundreds of billions to trillions of dollars. We will have lost the opportunity to spend the same money on things which will actually positively affect humanity. Why waste hundreds of billions trying to drop the earth's temperature one degree, having no true effect on the biosphere, when the same hundreds of billions may be able to cure cancer, Altzhiemer's disease, or pay down our enormous debts?

If the climate change people are eventually proven right I have been doing my bit to help.

IF...IF...IF

You can play the game an infinite different ways.

What if the extra CO2 is really helping and reducing fossil fuel use will hurt the environment?

The bottom line is, the CRU is a demonstrated lie factory. There is plenty of research that demonstrates CO2 has little-to-no effect on climate.

There is no reasonable reason to upend the world economy.....

.....unless that is your goal?!?!

from CRU director Phil Jones, references the U.K.'s Freedom of Information Act when asking another researcher to delete correspondence that might be disclosed in response to public records law:

"Can you delete any emails you may have had with Keith re AR4? Keith will do likewise."

Another, also apparently from Jones:

global warming skeptics "have been after the CRU station data for years. If they ever hear there is a Freedom of Information Act now in the UK, I think I'll delete the file rather than send to anyone."

(Jones was a contributing author to the chapter of the U.N.'s IPCC report titled "Detection of Climate Change and Attribution of Causes.")

The left has no regard for freedom (only license, ie, the “freedom” to be perverts), and the LAST thing they have regard for is other people’s money, which they pretend grows on trees. Good point, regarding what their “choice” to have “faith” in the global warming religion, costs OTHER people. And I might add, these same people want to marginalise, at best, Christianity, belief in which costs other people nothing.
