Former Danish statistics professor Bjorn Lomborg created a storm of controversy when he published The Skeptical Environmentalist , a 1998 work that was denounced by scientists for its cost-benefit critique of the Kyoto Protocol but also praised for its willingness to challenge environmental orthodoxy.

I read his book. It’s extremely difficult for environmentalists to deal with...so they usually pretend it doesn’t exist.
Now if he was not gay do you think his sexual orientation would have been part of this interview? I can’t wait for the ‘sexual’ imagery to get attached to the solutions for cooling down Mama Earth.
His explanation is quite interesting:
“You’re open about being gay do you think your sexuality has affected your approach to the environmental movement?
“Most people who are gay go through a period where they question everything, where they question regular social norms. When you’ve done that, you realize that just by asking those questions, even if you finally come up with an entirely bourgeois, boring answer, it actually is liberating because you’re making your own decision rather than just taking over something from your parents or grandparents.
“Perhaps what I’m trying to do with the environmental discussion is to say let’s not just do stuff because that’s what everyone else is talking about. But let’s ask ourselves where we can we make the best efforts so that future generations look back on us and say, Wow, they did a lot of good with the money they spent.
So if he comes up with an empirical argument that it is better for the government to encourage heterosexual families, then he will go with it. I think he is hinting that is just what he has concluded.
I hadn't known that, and I'd hve been happier continuing to not know it. What relevance does that have to the climate issue?
Thank you for posting the paragraphs. I did not because I did not know if they would be allowed.
I could not believe my eyes, as I am reading along taking in what was being said then out of the wild blue yonder his sexual orientation actually becomes the story. And you are correct, because in one breath it was do not do what dad and grandpa did, but your own thing. Yet he instantly follows with that future generations picture.
Watch my lips ladies and gentlemen.....The Globe and Mail is Canada’s New York Times. Need I say anything else on this post?
The author of the article did NOT explain the relevance. proxy_user copied and pasted the paragraphs that made it a point to the article. I have NO clue why or what I am being told regarding his sexual orientation.
Cut the fascist Romney attack ad CRAP and talk to me about issues! This is a Bjorn Lomberg thread for goodness sake and you talk about Romney and healthcare.
Get your bloody CRAP out of my discussion forum!
Um, do you realize that the Romney part is auto-added to each thread by the owner of this site?
Although I despise Romney for many reasons (e.g. as a Palin smear merchant), I didn’t have anything to do with posting that. It is put there by the system. So take it up with the Robinsons.
