why do they refuse to just make the safe play, and put some ordinary yet uncontroversial former president on the $1 coin? maybe it wouldn’t flop if it didn’t always look like some freaking PC obsession.
Native American?? I am missing something here; Was Hiawatha of European of Asian Descent?

Oh well, they can eventually melt those down too.
Interesting that this came up now. Just the other day I was cleaning out a drawer that had a bunch of change in it, and one of the coins I pulled out was a Susan B. Anthony dollar.
I looked at it, and it made me think once again how dumb and stupid liberal beauracracy is.
Remember the administration that hatched this numismatic abortion was the Carter administration, and it was called the “Carter Coin”. Amazing they could find the time, between destroying the economy, emasculating our military and generally kissing the collective asses of our enemies around the world. I know, I know...but it isn’t the Obama administration, but who can tell the difference?
This is the liberal thought process: Let’s make a dollar coin, even though time and time again, people SAY they don’t want it, they don’t need it, and don’t like it.
But let’s make it anyway, in spite of that, and spend billions of dollars doing it.
Then, let’s make that coin (that is ostensibly worth four times as much as a quarter)look like a quarter, make it the same size as a quarter, and make it the same color as a quarter.
Then, they will bitch and moan when people don’t adopt it. They will say people are sexist because they don’t adopt it (In this case, we are sure to be labeled racists because we won’t adopt it)
All of this, in a time where we should be paring expenditures down to a minimum. Does everyone know what this crap is all about? This is liberals being in power and wanting to push an agenda. Anyone who has anything to do with this knows that the most vocal, ideologic and politically correct liberals are not those that deal with sex and race, but those who specialize in Native American studies. If you think I am off base on this, just take a look a the bodies that regulate what may or may not be in a school textbook.
They should call it "the Orwell."

It’s made out of glass beads.
I think we need a Muslim dollar coin in honor of the “Religion of Peace” and our Kenyan president.
How about scalping a white settler and raping his wife for 2011?
What is a “native American?”
P.S.
Maybe Obama really has plans to have his ugly face and humongous ears stamped on the coin. His ears along will make the size of the dollar many times larger. Maybe a pound in weight or more?
What is the new printing going to cost us tax payers?
I smell that someone wants and needs the American Indian vote in 2010 because why now? The timing says a lot.
I suggest Iron Eyes Cody’s likeness on the 1$ coin. Somehow it just seems right.
If you could count on them working in vending machines, I would carry them. I don’t use change for anything else, at the end of the day, all the change goes into a bucket. When the bucket is full, I excange it for folding money.
The problem with the Sacagawea and Susan B. Dollars, imho, was that they were so fugly, not the theme, size or demonination. The aluminum Loony and Twoony are handsome coins and met immediate acceptance by the Canadian public. It the Canadian mint had tried something as fugly as the previous U.S. efforts it probably would have met with the same reaction.
The only way Americans will buy into a dollar coin is if they bring back the silver dollar. Does anyone remember the Carter Quarter (aka the Susan B. Anthony dollar)?
