WASHINGTON, Nov. 27 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The United States Mint today announced the new design that Americans will see on the reverse (tails side) of Native American $1 Coins next year.
The design, based on the theme "Government - The Great Tree of Peace," depicts the Hiawatha Belt with five arrows bound together, with the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, $1, Haudenosaunee and Great Law of Peace. The United States Mint will commence issuing these coins in January 2010, and they will be available throughout 2010.

These coins are stamped “We trust the great spirit in the sky”
No. It’s stamped on the edge of the coin. This new one has it printed on the obverse.
The government is still warehousing 1.2 billion Sasquachawea coins from 2000. They flake and turn green after a few weeks and look like hell. Idiots.
Haudensaunee means Longhouse Builders, more specifically the Iroquois tribe.
So, is this American money or tribal money?
Five arrows, I assume refers to the Five Tribes. Interesting, but isn’t this supposed to be the United States, 13 or 50 or maybe 57?
>>why dont they make $10 and $20 pieces with 90% silver
Excellent idea, but that would make money worth something other than what the Fed says it’s worth. Fiat currency makes a better tool for controlling the sheeple.
One of these nickels?
ROTFLMAO!
Hey, I didn’t see that in the first one you posted!
It's American money and then it becomes Tribal money when you play the slot machines
Seriously, anybody that comes into possesion of one of these things - are they going to spend it? It would make a centerpiece for a pendant, meybe, or an insert into a “penny” loafer.
But folks, everybody already KNOWS the only real money is a debit card....
As one of the McDonald’s ads says, “What can I get for a dollar?” and the response is “You can get out.”
*snicker*
Wow, more chucky cheese token look alikes.
An just how much is the great “Wampum” coin really worth?
why do they refuse to just make the safe play, and put some ordinary yet uncontroversial former president on the $1 coin? maybe it wouldn’t flop if it didn’t always look like some freaking PC obsession.
Native American?? I am missing something here; Was Hiawatha of European of Asian Descent?
The Fed is keeping the precious metals to themselves, if they distributed them people would save them outside of the banking system. We can’t have that, it would be as instructive about our fiat money system, as paying your taxes by writing a check every quarter is. Think of an IRS tax system without withholding, add an actual coinage that is worth more than a 10 bill. “Politicians meet tar and feather” would be the next news story.

Remember, that refers to the goverment of the Iroquois Confederation, which was certainly nothing like the bunch of kleptocrats we’re dealing with.
