Downtown Savannah and Broughton Street will transform into a winter wonderland Friday, complete with holiday movies, cookies and milk with Santa Claus, a skating rink and snow.
Savannah Holly Days is a two-day event that offers both visitors and locals a chance to enjoy the city and all of its beauty and offerings during the holidays.
"When you think about what makes a great city, it's when the locals and visitors can come together and enjoy the same thing," said Joseph Marinelli, president of the Savannah Area Convention and Visitors Bureau.

I will avoid "Holly Days."
A Cincy radio station reported that Kroger is selling their trees as holiday trees - not Christmas trees. Apparently complaints are pouring in. Duh.
Amazing how you can take away Christianity in the name of religious freedom.
This is in the South. If Christians are silent, Christmas will go away.
Fight!
...I just sent the Savannah Visitor’s bureau a note telling them that I won’t be stopping off during my vacation...please join me by contacting them:

Can't have "holiday", its meaning is "holy day", and can't have "Santa", the word is derived from "Saint".
Better to just close up shop.
Get and hold their attention write, “As a Muslim, I am outraged at the term ‘Holly Days’...”
Savannans: Boycott the stores! It will bring an end to this nonsense.
And, this old news from Indianapolis: Formerly known as The World’s Tallest Christmas Tree

Neil Diamond’s fault.
Doesn’t Savannah have a large Jewish population? This could be a method of including them into festivities.
sent - thanks for the link pard’
Yes, but doesn't Savannah have some things in common with San Francisco?
Merry Christmas is Not Offensive -- Jews Should Protect Religious Freedom for Everyone
Not sure about the Jewish population but they have the second largest St. Patrick's Day parade in the country.
BTW I doubt Jews had anything to do w/ this. It's that 'Amish' thing again.
Better to pi$$ off the 60%+ Christian population than the minuscule Muslim presence. /s
Idiots
A surprise. 95 plus percent of the population of Savannah is Christian, most believing Christians. What tiny minority group of bigots is offended by mention of Christmas?
Mrs. JimRed and I attended it year before last; it was great! Lots nicer folks than NYC, and fewer obnoxious drunks staggering about. The greatest surprise was when a contingent of the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh marched by. Their clubhouse in Belmar, New Jersey is just a couple of blocks from our home!
I asked a member about it, and he said they split their marching band between NYC and Savannah.
