Why would aliens travel billions of miles to skin a calf? Almost as bad as that movie Signs where they traveled millions of light years then couldn’t get in the house because they put boards over the windows. And they had to use crop circles for navigation after travelling across the galaxy. I can hear the aliens now “oh no, they have boards, what are we going to do?”
Because insurance companies will cover undetermined causes of death, not natural causes/predation.
We can always count on the thoroughly uninformed to throw a bunch of ingnorant non-sequiturs into the thread.
Sigh.
They were also hydrophobic and came to a planet that is two thirds water without bringing a rain coat.

I know Mejico *seems* a billion miles away culturally, but it’s just across our southern border. Srsly. And those aliens are hongry after that swim and/or hike.
What if they only folded space and their trip was 10 miles round trip?
And suppose they are trying to create a human drone or copy...vermillion tissue might be in limited supply unless borrowed from other species.
Actually, in the movie “Signs,” the aliens DID get into the family’s house....they broke the windows on the second floor and moments later the family barricaded themselves in the basement. (Near the end of the movie the camera showed broken windows on the farmhouse and some of the boards were pushed aside). The boards slowed the aliens down a bit but it didn’t stop them from getting inside.
What I wondered about that movie....
(1) Why didn’t the family have firearms and blast away at the aliens instead of hiding
(2) Why didn’t the humans destroy the crop circles when they first figured out the crop circles were for navigation by the ETs and
(3) Why would the aliens go to so much trouble to try to “harvest” two adults and two children from a rural Pennsylvania farm house when they could have gone to even a medium-sized city and had much easier, and more plentiful, pickings?
