They have helped buy us that luxury haven't they? God Bless them for it!:)
"We want to be in a situation under maximum pressure, maximum intensity, and maximum danger. When it is shared with others, it provides a bond which is stronger than any tie that can exist." - SEAL Team Six Officer
Oh MAN!!! Don’t get me started on haditha. Murtha is my congressman. A hammer and a wooden stake is more than he deserves.
Sorry. I disagree. That is your opinion.
GWB did not singlehandedly change the nature of our armed forces, it was a cumulative effect that was built up over the last twenty years. It came to a head because we had more people engaged in high intensity combat in Iraq and Afghanistan than at any time since Vietnam. If there had been more high intensity combat over a longer period in 1991, we would have seen this type of crap back then.
I take issue with the “It’s Bush’s Fault” crowd. Bush didn’t destroy the military. And Bush isn’t prosecuting these men. Because I say this doesn’t mean for a second that I don’t hold him accountable for things like leaving Ramos/Compean Scooter Libby and the Haditha Marines out on a limb.
I don’t think George W. Bush “effed” over our defenders, and am willing to bet the vast majority of them don’t think he did either. George W. Bush wasn’t a perfect President by any means. But neither was Reagan. Or George Washington. People need to move ahead and assume responsibility for what is here and now.
“Navy Seal Marcus Luttrell Reports: How Liberals Think in War”
July 3, 2007 | By Jack Yoest
The only time a manager should shout or bark out an order demanding instant obedience is if the building is on fire: an emergency.
Navy Seal Marcus Luttrell had a few minutes to make a decision and decided to take a vote. It wasn’t an emergency, just yet.
(Get the whole story
Marcus Luttrell:
Lone Survivor)
“It was the stupidest, most southern-fried, lamebrained decision I ever made in my life,” Luttrell writes. “I must have been out of my mind. I had actually cast a vote which I knew could sign our death warrant. I’d turned into a (expletive) liberal, a half-assed, no-logic nitwit, all heart, no brain, and the judgment of a jack rabbit.”
Marcus Luttrell tells his story in Lone Survivor and is reported in A war hero from Huntsville rues a decision made in Afghanistan, By FRITZ LANHAM in the Houston Chronicle,
In June 2005, on a barren mountain high in the Taliban-infested Hindu Kush, Luttrell and three fellow Navy SEALs came together to talk.
Their mission — to locate and possibly take out an important Taliban leader hiding in the Afghan village below — had just been compromised.
Three goatherds, one a boy of about 14, had blundered onto their position.
Military discipline is the prompt obediance to orders or the initiation of appropiate action in the absence of orders. In the absence of clear rules of engagement, Marcus Luttrell was on his own. Which is what military officers and civilian managers expect — to make decisions on minimal information.
As they saw it, they had two options: kill the Afghans, or let them go and hope for the best. They let them go.
It’s a decision Luttrell bitterly regrets.
Marcus Luttrell made the decision balancing a possible murder charge — which would have been demanded by the main stream media — with the American lives for which he was responsible.
Within hours, more than 100 Taliban fighters descended on the SEAL team. In the terrible gun battle that followed, Murphy, Axelson and Dietz died. A few miles away, a Taliban grenade brought down a rescue helicopter on its way to help the trapped men, killing all 16 aboard. It was the worst day in the 40-year history of the Navy SEALs.
Marcus Luttrell made the wrong decision. He was thinking like a liberal instead of a military officer.
He reports that Axelson favored killing the goatherds. Dietz was neutral. Murphy and Luttrell voted to let them go.
In war every death of a military service member is a public event. Liberal influence has made difficult decisions nearly impossible to get right. Liberals have put our military in a no-win situation.
Losing is what liberals seem to want.
Right now I miss Carter and Slick Willy. Now that IS BAD!
The Navy has been politically correct for some time now. It isn’t the same service I was in, and I think they were ahead of the other branches with this crap.
Horse pucky. My previous San Antonio doctor's grandfather, son of German immigrants, would not speak English on his own land. In town or on the farms/ranches of others, he would speak English, reportedly with a heavy German accent, but at home, he'd listen in English, but reply in German.
Are you saying that Asians, who we had a lot of at least on the West Coast and in the western US in general, are more culturally similar to the mixed European culture, than those from a mixed native and Spanish (mostly Spanish culturally) Christian culture?
That there are more illegals is a valid point, but being illegal is, in part, what forces them to remain isolated. I'm not for amnesty by any means, but I'm also not for the current rules on immigration, which were crafted for another time. I'd actually favor something like the WW-II era program, which allowed temporary, but legal, workers in. I would of course deny such temporary workers any federal or state government benefits. And no anchor babies. The kids may be 14th amendment parents, but that should not accrue any benefit to the parents. The parents should be sent home, as appropriate under the rules/laws then in existence, with the option of taking the kids or not. When the kids turn 18, they can decide which nation to be citizens and residents of.
As to the lack of appropriateness of the "platitude", it was not a statement on "diversity", but rather the forging of one people out of many varied peoples. Maryland was after all a Catholic state. Virginian were mostly of English ancestry, at least the upper crust, while there were lots of Germans in New York and Pennsylvania, well prior to the revolution. The latter also had lots of Amish and other "different" types.
And there was this "plague" of Scots-Irish, and (saints preserve us) real Irishmen, particularly in the aforementioned Maryland.
But the point is, you have to be somewhat interested in forming one people, with common interests, language and culture (political culture especially) not in Balkanizing in the name of "Diversity".
I’m sure the prosecution won’t show the footage of the people who were forced by flames to jump from the WTC impacting the ground or what they looked like after impact. Pre 9-11 mentality - it’s not a war, it’s a criminal problem.
The good people of the DC Chapter help those folks at Walter Reed with their hard work and emotional support they show outside every Friday night.
They collect money and buy goods for the troops and their families. They purchase a wide range of items from toys and games to toiletries, clothes and so on. They put them on a table, and the troops and their families don’t even have to ask. They can walk right up and take what they need or want, no questions asked.
If you want to donate, you can go to http://www.dcchapter.com/ and give there. Those DC chapter folks are some of the finest, most dedicated people I know, and the troops really appreciate them.
Apparently, we cannot control what Obama does anymore, but we can help the troops at Walter Reed...:)
I agree. But the Sec of the Navy is a flaming Obama supporting liberal. This makes it worse than I ever thought.
FYI - please share with others.
Judging by the expressions I've seen on Army faces, especially on one CO, a Colonel with iron gray hair who declined to even speak before or after, the "moment of silence" held the day after the shootings, I'd say not overly long.
Maybe you can explain that to Lt. Col Chessani, Staff Sargeant Frank Wuterich, and Sargent Evan Vela.
If you read my whole post, I only give credit where credit is due, and NOBODY has had the audacity to group me in with the "It's Bush's Fault" club.
If you'd been paying attention for the last few years, you'd know that.
“The three have refused non-judicial punishment called an admiral’s mast
and requested a trial by court-martial. “
Well, here’s hoping and praying that the SEALs do as well or better
than Dick Winters (of “Band of Brothers” fame) in his court-martial.
And Obama’s water-boys fare about as well as Sobel (the martinet that
was shocked when Winters called his bluff by demanding trial by court-martial).
Sobel lost.
And even botched an attempted suicide after WWII.
I ain’t wishing anything other than non-violent, political, disaster
for the CinC as long as he always runs to the aid of Islamic Terrorists.
But I guess he “cain’t halp himself” as the late Gov. Ann Richards
would say.
Anyone know? Did Obama cancel our national day of Prayer?
We need one.
Ann Richards died?
I think I've read all of his.
Beck gave him a whole hour last Friday.

Glenn Beck smacking Zero a good one again. Please share with your address list.
