Gotta laugh at the AP for including a statement from some “spokesman” at Fort Bragg who claimed sales of Palin’s book were “weak” so far despite 1500 people waiting for her to sin her book.

The base knows what it is doing. Trust them.

I can name 13 and an unborn baby who trusted them.

“Army officials say Palin will not make a speech, pose for photos,
or personalize notes in the books she signs.”

Palin should tell them to go pound sand.
And set up a large tent on someone’s private property near the base.
(if available).

Otherwise, say that the muzzling by the Army Brass (probably per
their Commander-In-Chief) is just unacceptable.

“Palin should tell them to go pound sand.”

I repent. I thought the visit was to be in the area of the base.
But if on-base...it needs to be as non-political.
Or just have the event in an adjacent town (Fayettville, NC?)

The rules at the military bases are the same for all. This is standard. Period. We look silly when we are not aware of this. It has always been this way. This is nothing new.

Simple. If an entertainer went to Ft. Bragg to entertain the troops, would they be ordered NOT TO SPEAK, TAKE PHOTOS, OR ANYTHING ELSE????

HELL NO!!!!!! This is coming from the Whitehouse. Something NEVER DONE BEFORE.

AS a former FT. Bragg soldier from the 519th MI BN, I’m FREAKING SICK OF THIS SHIT!!!!

I hope she gets up on stage and demands to see Usurper Obama’s birth certificate!

I have had hope that at some point the military might step in to save us from the obamination - sort of like Honduras - but obviously they’re too busy being PC to lift a finger. Seeing Gen Casey on TV saying that loss of diversity would be worse than the Ft Hood lives that were lost told me that we are screwed.

Yep. We are soooo screwed. Why there aren't demonstrations every day is beyond me but take 50 yrs of PC indoctrination & here we are. Nobody to blame than each of us for not revolting.

that oh so moumnental moron Jimmuh Caatah didn’t have to be vetted either ..... and....,

....his nemesis, The Great Admiral Rickover, would have preferred the “peanut” to be keel hauled, and be done with him.

Caatuh did an “end a round” run as a measly ltjg (02) and got a “hardship” discharge as a lowly SLJO (Sh***y Little Junior Officer) under the guise he needed to go home and run the family farm when the so called sperm generator that fathered him died.

His was the only “hardship” discharge given under those conditions at that time ... Rickover was glad to find a way to get rid of him.

Caatuh DESPISED the Navy, and the NAVY hated him for many many many reasons ...

Bill, Sarah, I am just commenting on lthe CFR. Yes, Sara P. could make a statement thanking troop for their service. I agree with bill that the post commander seems to have jumped on the band wagon but he does have the duty to head off a situation that would reflect badly on his leadership. If either of you had been in the military you would understand this situation which I think is being blown out of proportion by the press, not the commander or Sarah Palin.

The Army had worried the appearance would prompt political grandstanding against President Obama. That fear initially ledcommanders to limit news coverage, though the restrictions were later dropped.

Is the Army afraid of appearances of grandstanding against Obama or is it protocol? Which is it? Is limited news coverage based on the rules or not? If not, why did they try to limit it in the first place? If it is, why drop the restrictions? No mention in the article of rules that say a former governor/political candidate can't make a speech, pose for pics, etc. What about a simple speech of support and gratitude to the military as opposed to a "political" speech. Everybody knows that any speech given by Sarah would be met with enthusiasm that would humiliate the Obama administration.

She should give a great speech to encourage them, saying HELP IS ON THE WAY, just hang tough until 2012

Find a book store close to the base and hold a rally there.

Democrats - the party that makes sure not to count the troops votes.

Maybe General Casey can give a speech on why it is okay for Muslims agents/moles in the Army to murder 13 American soldiers.

Oh yes he did.

U.S. Army General: Lack of diversity in Army is worse than mass murder

Loss of diversity, says General Casey, would be worse than jihad murder: "Our diversity, not only in our Army, but in our country, is a strength. And as horrific as this tragedy was, if our diversity becomes a casualty, I think that's worse."

As Pamela Geller puts it: "Diversity as a casualty would be an 'even greater tragedy' than the casualties of this act of war on American soil. I cannot believe what I am reading. It was not a tragedy, it was an terrorist attack. This is Obama's military command?...Instead of taking the enemy on, calling it what it is and taking offensive measures against a mortal enemy that has vowed our destruction, we submit."

Since there is no active, ongoing political campaign, I can think of no reason to deny Palin the opportunity to speak on a military installation. If it is a regulation in North Carolina, it would also be a regulation at Wainwright and Richardson in Alaska.

When we say “free speech”, we don’t mean for those who disagree.

Now pay your taxes and have a nice day. :)

They allow obviously radical Muslims to rant and rave (and murder) but they're afraid of a conservative woman.

Welcome to the Obama Administration's “brave new world”!

That's absurd and false except for your first sentence.

That's the way it should be

This is an author that happened to be in politics in the past.

It's not a political tour Palin is on, it is a book tour.

The rules do not prevent pictures and little speeches about an authors book.

Other military bases are not squelching Palin's ability to speak (which she barely does anyway at these venues) or the taking of pictures with her.

You post with such authority, but are completely wrong.

Speak for yourself about "we look silly"

Do you write for the Dallas Sun?

This perfectly illustrates the predicament the Armed Forces are in today.

They are dealing with a moody man-child as CIC and are afraid of pissing him off. Lives hang in the balance.

What a train wreck.
